Harold Lynn Ames of Potosi, Missouri was born on May 17, 1937 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a son of the late Madge Marie (Cover) Ames and Cleatis Ames. Harold departed this life on January 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by the care and love of his family at the age of Seventy-nine years, eight months and nine days.
Harold was united in Marriage to Mary Sells on August 2, 1958 in Hopewell, Missouri.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Mary Ames of Potosi; two sons, Darrell Ames and wife Leslie of Mineral Point, Gary Ames of Potosi; four sisters, Marilyn Stroupe of Lake Hanna, Carolyn Nixon of Hopewell, Patsy Barczewski and husband Bob of St. Louis, Barbara Hammond of Potosi; ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Gary, Jr., Brady, Jamie, Jesse, Haley, Kayla, M., Melisa, Kayla and Tony; one great granddaughter, Skye Stout and by many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Kenneth Ames and two brothers, David Ames and Edger Ames.
Harold attended the Big River Church and enjoyed the many sermons, scriptures and music with his fellow Church members.
Harold was a man of many words and loved spending time visiting and talking about anything. He enjoyed being out and about. He loved spending time deer hunting and going on frequent road rides. Spending time with his many friends at Pine Valley Machinery was always a priority. Harold had a great love for people and never seemed to meet a stranger, he was always willing to give a hand to anyone. His family and friends were always a priority in his life.
Visitation was held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Moore Funeral Home with Brother Bob Adams officiating.
Burial and Final Prayers were at the Germania Cemetery, Terre Du Lac, Missouri. Honoring the life and memory of Harold and serving as Pallbearers were Darrell Ames, Gary Ames, Paul Blair, John Stout, Mark Ames, David Ames, Jesse Cain and Gary Ames, Jr.
Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark St., Potosi, Missouri.
