Obituary for Carl Anderson
Carl Elroy Anderson of Potosi, Missouri was born on April 2, 1950 and departed this life on June 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his caring and loving family. Carl was sixty-seven years, two months and twenty-eight days of age.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Alice (Politte) and Roy Anderson and father-in-law, Tom Drummonds.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Tamra (Drummonds) Anderson of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Machelle Portell of Festus, Missouri; Brandi Fitzwater of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Kris Anderson and wife, Casandra of Potosi, Missouri; two sisters, Barb Paul of Potosi, Missouri; Janice Smith and husband, Clarence of South Bend, Indiana; one brother, Roger Anderson and wife, Gloria of Mineral Point, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Shawnee (C.J.) Boyer, Terry Lynn Fitzwater, Jamie Fitzwater, Jordan Anderson (fiancé, Justin), Zachary Portell, Kalob (Erin) Anderson, Kristopher (Kelsey) Anderson, Keagan (Lauren) Anderson, Casey Anderson (fiancé, Ryan), Rocky Lynn Crocker; nine great-grandchildren plus two coming soon: Alaina, Brylee, Austin, Gander, Asher, Averie, Mason, Brayden, Karri; brother-in-law, Bill Drummonds and wife, Nancy of Irondale, Missouri; mother-in-law, Shirley Wells and husband, Rex of Gilmer, Texas; sister-in-law, Kim Bond of Grovetown, Georgia; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Carl served in the United States Army and was very proud of his service for his country. He was always talking about his military family and enjoyed visits with them also. He was an Instructor Pilot, Utility Observation Helicopter Pilot and an Aerial Scout. Carl had served with the 63rd Co., 6th Battalion, the 60th Assault Helicopter Company and the 229th AHB, 101st Division. During his Enlistment, he received many decorations including Army Aviator, Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, Army service Ribbon, Air Medal (10th Award) and the Air Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and many other Decorations, Medals and Badges.
Carl was a very skilled carpenter and owned his own construction company. Carl was an avid outdoorsman, who was always hunting and fishing. The pride and joy of his life was spending time with his kids and grandkids. Carl will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Final prayers and burial were in the New Diggins Cemetery in Mineral Point, Missouri.
