Michael "Matt" Eckhoff
Michael Lynn Eckhoff of Potosi departed this life at his home surrounded by the love and care of his dear family on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the age of Sixty-one years, one month and twenty-seven days.
Michael was born on September 2, 1956 in Cadet, a son of the late Joseph “Dode” Eckhoff and Mildred Ellen (Pratt) Eckhoff.
Michael was united in marriage to Vicky Ramey on September 3, 1988 in Potosi. They were blessed to have two daughters born to the union.
Michael is survived by his dear and loving wife, Vicky Eckhoff of Potosi; daughter, Jessica Crocker and her husband Jimmy of Potosi; sisters, Shelia Harris and husband Kenny of Bonne Terre, Shannon Pratt and husband Larry of Mineral Point and Sherry Eckhoff of Mineral Point; Brothers, Joseph Eckhoff and wife Carol of Leadwood, Dewight Eckhoff of Potosi, Matthew Eckhoff of Potosi, Dennis Eckhoff of Leadwood, Kevin Eckhoff and wife Linda of Leadington, Kelly Eckhoff and wife Mary of Park Hills and Scott Eckhoff and wife April of Mineral Point; grandchildren, Scotty, Jacob, Joseph, Sarah, Ruth and Michael; great grandchildren, Trenton and Jasmine; son-in-law David Martin and friend Kellie of Leadwood; two of his best buds, his dogs, Bob Roy and Bella; and by many other dear and special relatives and friends.in addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret “Beth” Martin; sister in laws, Diane Eckhoff and Debbie Eckhoff; two of his dogs, Old Dog Rex and Lulu.
Michael better known as Matt by his family and friends, served this country in the United States Marines. He enlisted on January 15, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri and served with the 1371 Combat Engineer unit. He was awarded the Rifle Marksman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on October 8, 1976 at Camp Pendleton.
Matt had a great love for his family and greatly enjoyed the time with his family and friends. His grandchildren could always brighten his day with their warm smile and love. He was always ready to help anyone with any endeavor. He will forever be remember red for his smile, strong shoulder to lean on and his loving heart to care with.
Visitation was held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Thursday, November 2, 2017from 8:30 am to 11:00 am at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
The Funeral Service was held Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Connie Carrigan officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Kenny Harris, Scott Eckhoff, Dennis Farris, Kelly Eckhoff, Chyenne Eckhoff and Josh Pratt. Honorary Pallbearers were Paul Lee and Paul Bourisaw.
Burial and Final Prayers was at the Barlow Cemetery, Cadet, Missouri.
