Jimmie Kirby, Sr.
Jimmie L. Kirby Sr. of Cadet, Missouri was born February 2, 1932 in Potosi, Missouri, as son of the late Grace Jarvis and the late Frank Kirby. Jimmie departed this life on November 9, 2017 at the Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital at the age of eighty-five years, nine months and seven days.
Jimmie was united in marriage to the late Shirley Mae Kirby on January 13, 1956 in Potosi, Missouri. Jimmie and Shirley were blessed with five children.
Jimmie is survived by one daughter, Sherry and husband Richard Gerrish of Terre Dulac; four sons, Jimmie Kirby and wife Garlyn of Potosi, Dennis Kirby and wife Ann of Terre Dulac, Kenneth Kirby of Kansas City, Eric Kirby and wife Trina of Belgrade; one sister, Gladys Lancaster of Savannah, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife Shirley; two sisters, Verna Belfield and Mary Waller; one brother, Jerrry Kirby; one grandchild, Brett Ashton Mills.
Jimmie was baptized into faith on July 5, 2001 at the Pleasant Hill Church. On February 14, 1951 Jimmie entered into the United States Army. After three years of service he was Honorably Discharged on May 13, 1954 having reached the rank Corporal. After serving a great Nation he became an owner and an operator of Kirby Brothers Roofing Company. Jimmie enjoyed what all the outdoors had to offer, especially hunting and fishing.
