Rose Richards (Johnston)
Rose Ann Richards of Blackwell, Missouri was born March 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Robert Louis Johnston and Ava Rose Ackerson. Rose Ann departed this life surrounded by the love and care of her family January 4, 2018 having reached the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and twenty-seven days.
Rose Ann is survived by; three daughters, Mary Jane Price of Blackwell, Missouri, Carmen Litton and husband Johnnie of Blackwell, Missouri, Kathryn Thompson and husband William of Hillsboro, Missouri; two sons, Richard Leon Coleman of St. Louis, Missouri, Edward Coleman and wife Stephanie of Cadet, Missouri; one brother, James Johnston and wife Carol of Cadet, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Opal Johnston of Cadet, Missouri; two step-daughters, Mary Nieman and husband Dan of Benton, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren and forty-two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rose Ann is preceded in death by her first husband Leon Coleman and her second husband Elvis Richards; one sister, Mary Catherine Portell; one brother, Robert L. Johnston, one step-daughter, Tina Tuttle, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Rose Ann was a member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church where she was very active in all its functions. She was a dedicated teacher for thirty-five years at Kingston K-14 School and then at St. Joachim Catholic School. She was a delegate for MSPA, President of CTA. She served on the Board of Education at St. Joachim and Kingston K-14 and was Vice President of Retired Teachers Committee. She enjoyed sewing and working with her Rose garden. With all whom she taught and guided, her most rewarding time was spent watching her grandchildren grow. Rose Ann will be deeply missed by her family, friends, community and all that have known her.
