Gamble, Christopher

Christopher Gamble of Cadet, Missouri was born on Tuesday, October 30, 1979 in Potosi, Missouri and departed this life on Friday, August 27, 2010 having reached the age of thirty years, nine months and twenty-eight days.

Christopher is survived by three daughters, Akeya Marie Gamble, Christin Travis Gamble, Carissa Parker Gamble; two sons, Zachory Taylor Gamble, Elijah Daniel Gamble; mother and father, Donna Mae (DeClue) Gamble and Harry Parker Gamble of Cadet, Missouri; one brother, Harry Patrick Gamble and wife, Shirley of Cadet, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and friends.

Christopher was a graduate of the Potosi High School class of 1998.  He attended the Power of Grace Ministries.  Christopher had a great love for music; he was always playing drums, guitar and singing.  He was a member of the band Wet Feat.  Christopher enjoyed spending time in the outdoors admiring God’s gifts in nature.

A Memorial Visitation was held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri.

Bone, Edward “Junior”

Edward “Junior” Bone of Old Mines, Missouri was born on Wednesday, November 16, 1927 a son of the late, Virginia (Skiles) Bone and Edward Bone.  “Junior” departed this life on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-two years, nine months and eleven days.

“Junior” was united in marriage to Martha Celeste Juliette on November 26, 1947 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, Missouri.

Edward is survived by his wife, Celeste Bone of Old Mines, Missouri; four daughters, Barbara Malia and husband, Dale of Perry, Missouri, Lisa Molly and husband, Ed of Imperial, Missouri, Vicki Haynes and husband, Tom of Old Mines, Missouri, Gina Hall and husband, Dan of Bonne Terre, Missouri; five sons, Gary Bone and wife, Charlotte of Walnut Hill, Illinois, David Bone and wife, Judy of Hillsboro, Missouri, Ronald Bone and wife, Debra of Old Mines, Missouri, Kevin Bone and Cathy Pashia of Springtown, Missouri, Randy Bone and wife, Lisa of Cadet, Missouri; one brother, Virgil Bone of Cannon Mines, Missouri; thirty grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Margaret Bone of Old Mines, Missouri; dear and special friends, Walter and Virginia Reando Family; also surviving are other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, “Junior” was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Bone, two sons, James Bone, Eddie Bone, one sister, Kathleen Juliette, three brothers, Jesse Bone, Francis Bone, Floyd Bone and one grandson, Christopher.

“Junior” enjoyed family gatherings and getting to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved spending time outdoors going hunting, fishing, golfing and baseball.  He was also an avid Cardinals fan, when they were winning.  “Junior” also enjoyed going bowling and playing horseshoes.  He was a kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by the many lives he has touched.

Visitation was held Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Monsignor James Hanson officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.  Honoring “Junior” by serving as pallbearers were: Ryan Bone, Minnow Courtway, Pat Bone, Shannon Bone, Matt Bone, Andy Bone, Ben Bone, Jason Bone, Garrett Bone, Nate Molly, Nick Molly, Casey Molly and Gus Haynes.

Irvin Thebo of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, February 22, 1915 in Old Mines, Missouri a son of the late, Mary Frances (Coleman) Thebeau and Joseph Thebeau.  Irvin departed this life on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-five years, six months and four days.

Irvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Daniels on September 1, 1973.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marian Thebo of Potosi, Missouri; three daughters, Gloria Hawn of Redoak, Iowa, Katherine Thebeau of Wassau, Wisconsin, Patricia Malie and husband, Patrick of Dayton, Ohio; one son, Donald Thebeau and wife, Judy of Barnhart, Missouri; three sisters, Rita Kamper and husband, Carl of Old Mines, Missouri, Theresa Sampson of Old Mines, Missouri, Jean Ansleman and husband, Robert of Old Mines, Missouri; three brothers, Leonard Thebeau and wife, Irene of Cadet, Missouri, Raymond Thebeau and wife, Emma of Cadet, Missouri, Clifford “Benny” Thebeau and wife, Ellen Louis of Old Mines, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Vera Thebeau of Festus, Missouri, Blanch Thebeau of Eureka, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Robert, Brian and Nicholas, Daniel and Kris, Robin, Rhonda, Ramona and Joy, Linda, Peter and Jill; great grandchildren, Ashley, Breanna, Angel, Lily, Bryson, Milo, Rachel and Zack; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, Irvin was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Vanderlip, one son, James “Jim” Thebo, two sisters, Margaret Pruitt, Louise Missey, four brothers, Nick Thebeau, Ralph Thebeau, Stanley Thebeau and Charlie Thebeau.

Irvin served in the United States Army during World War II he enlisted on September 26, 1940 and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945.

Just after leaving the Army Irvin worked at the Post Office in New York City.  After that Irvin worked for McDonald Douglas (Boeing) and Lockheed.  He was a very punctual person he never liked mistakes and was his own worst critic.  Irvin always kept everything neat and orderly.  He was a parishioner of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and helped with the St. Christine’s Food Pantry.  Irvin had a great love for photography; he enjoyed taking pictures of landscapes and other objects.

Visitation was held Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, August 30, 2010 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Monsignor James Hanson officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.  Where Irvin received full military honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation of the United States Flag.  Serving as pallbearers were: Dean Kamper, Peter Malie, Pat Malie, Raymond Thebeau, Benny Thebeau, Gary Thebeau and honorary pallbearer: Jiggs Thebeau.

Fraley, Harold

Harold Herbert Fraley of Arnold, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home in the care and love of his dear family. Harold was born on Thursday, February 11, 1926 in Porsha, Arkansas a son of the late Ollie Mae (Hendon) Fraley and John H. Fraley. Harold was Eighty-four years, Six months and Fifteen days of age at the time of his passing.

Harold was united in marriage to Ruth Alberta Davis on December 23, 1944 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Harold is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more then Sixty-five years, Alberta Fraley of Arnold; one son, Bob Fraley and daughter-in-law Donna of Arnold, Missouri; six grandchildren, Bill Fraley, Don Fraley and wife Courtney, Angie Murphy and husband Pat, Missy Wilhoit and husband Andy, Jeff McEntire and wife Michelle and Janet Wagner and husband Jeff; fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Elaine Skaggs and husband Bill of Potosi, Missouri and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear and special friends. In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by one son, Richard “Rick” Harold Fraley; four sisters, Dorothy Bippen, Wanda Hudson, Lois Walton and Opal Fraley; four brothers, Arthur Fraley, Johnny Fraley, Orville Junior Fraley and Jessie “Buck” Fraley.

Harold served this great country in the United States Army. He enlisted on April 19, 1944 and was Honorably Discharged on April 19, 1946. Harold received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Carbine Ex and the SMG Ex qualifications. He served in the Central Europe Campaign and was decorated with one Overseas Bar, the American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Harold did receive a Purple Heart for injuries he received during his tour of duty.

Harold was employed with Anheuser Busch Brewery for forty-one years. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Local 1187 Union and was a longtime Vice President of the Union.

Harold enjoyed fishing, playing phinochle and during his younger years he loved to bowl. He enjoyed relaxing watching old westerns and the CNN channel. He was a member of the V.F.W. Harold loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to their visits.

Visitation was held Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Mike Jarvis officiating.

Burial and Final Prayers were held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Bill Fraley, Don Fraley, Jeff McEntire, Pat Murphy, Andy Wilhoit and Jeff Wagner. Honorary Pallbearers were Shane Fraley, Tony McEntire, Tommy McEntire, Cody McEntire, Robbie Murphy and Ricky Fraley.

The Missouri Funeral Honors team and the Washington County Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6996 gave military Honors. Honors included a Gun Salute, Taps and Folding and Presentation of the United States Flag.

Thurman, Luther

Luther “Butch” Thurman was born on Tuesday, January 1, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri a son of the late, Charlotte Thurman-Kroeck and Luther Lee Thurman, Sr.  Luther departed this life on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri having reached the age of fifty-eight years, seven months and nineteen days.

Luther was united in marriage to Judy Ray on February 25, 1972 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Luther is survived by his loving wife, Judy Thurman of Irondale, Missouri; three sons, Luther Lee Thurman III and fiancé, Melissa Bleckler of Irondale, Missouri, David Leroy Thurman and wife, Cliffta of Irondale, Missouri, Allen Leon Thurman and wife, Tabby of Irondale, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Parks and husband, Dennis of Leadwood, Missouri, Fran Gibson and husband, Ray of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Luther IV, Ronnie, Alice, Dylan, Sydney, Brody, Bradley and Gunner; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  In addition of his parents, Luther was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalee Pruitt, Carolyn Ellis and one brother, Jesse Thurman.

Luther served in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge on September 26, 1969.

Luther enjoyed working as a welder and a mechanic for many years.  Spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and farming gave Luther great joy.  Luther always loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and taking them for rides on his Polaris Ranger.  He also enjoyed watching hunting shows and the SyFy Channel.  Luther will be greatly remembered for the loved and laughter he shared.

“Butch” had a great love for mankind and for the future good health of all.  Because of this love, his long awaited wish of donation was made to the Mid-America Transplant Service.  Several recipients will benefit because of his unselfish action.

Visitation was held Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating.  Honoring “Butch” by serving as pallbearers were: Luther Thurman III, David Thurman, Allen Thurman, Rodney Reed, Luther Thurman IV, Ronnie Cole, Dylan Thurman, Jordan Buffington and Calvin Udy.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Big River Cemetery, Irondale, Missouri.  “Butch” received military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Team, which consisted of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.

Warden, Eugene

Eugene Warden of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, October 21, 1946 in Fletcher, Missouri a son of the late, Orea M. (Stroups) Stutters and Clarence Warden.  Eugene departed this life on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-three years, nine months and twenty-seven days.

Eugene is survived by one daughter, Faye Rector of Palm Bay, Florida; one brother, Bernard Warden and wife, Rita of Mineral Point, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brittney Walling of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Ashley Walling of Palm Bay, Florida, Brandon Rector of Palm Bay, Florida; also surviving are other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Louise Warden, Vernie Bernice Warden and Leona Fay Warden and one brother, Roy Warden.

Eugene enjoyed watching television and could spend hours listening to all types of music.  When nieces and nephews would come to visit him they always enjoyed his company and being able to play ball with Eugene.  Even with his physical limitations Eugene was an expert in drawing beautiful pictures.  His family, many friends and caregivers will fondly remember Eugene.

Rosemary Forrester of West Plains, Missouri was born on Wednesday, October 19, 1927 in Irondale, Missouri a daughter of the late, Clara (Beck) Province and Everette “Jimmy” Province.  Rosemary departed this life on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the NHC Healthcare, West Plains, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-two years, nine months and twenty-four days.

Rosemary was united in marriage to Charles Forrester on June 3, 1950 in Potosi, Missouri and were blessed with two children.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Charles Forrester of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Brenda Lewis and husband, Ron of Belle, Missouri; one son, Steven Forrester of West Plains, Missouri; one brother, Wilburn Province and wife, Imogene of Irondale, Missouri; one granddaughter, April Benton and husband, Shawn Muenks of Jefferson City, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Province and one brother, Lester Province.

Rosemary enjoyed being a military wife, always took care of her children.  After her husband, Charles was out of the military she started farming, fishing and always had a beautiful flower garden.  Rosemary loved Mother Nature and her many gifts.  Mostly Rosemary loved spending time with her only grandchild, April.  Rosemary was a remarkable person, not only for her longevity, but also for the intensity and clarity of focus with which she lived her life and she proudly enjoyed caring for her loving family.

Visitation was held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Irondale, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Irondale, Missouri with Reverend Bill Apple officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were, Larry Province, Gary Province, Dennis Province, Bruce Province, Ron Lewis and Shawn Muenks. Honorary Pallbearers were, Wilburn Province and Steven Forrester.

Means, Anita

Anita Means of Potosi, Missouri was born on September 10, 1919 in Crocker, Missouri a daughter of the late, Vannie M. (Wilkes) Hendricks and Peter Edward Hendricks.  Anita departed this life on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-years, eleven months and two days.

Anita’s best friend, Irene introduced her brother, Melvin to Anita when she was fourteen years old; they were later united in marriage on October 30, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Anita is survived by one niece, Diana Bush of Boynton Beach, Florida; one nephew, Melvin Hedberg of Otsego, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Yvonne Hendricks, of Boca Raton, Florida; one Godson, Jason Robart of Bonne Terre, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.  In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Means and one brother, Howard C. Hendricks.

Anita was saved at the age of fourteen at Chatham Bible Chapel in Wellston, Missouri.  She and Melvin bought forty acres of land on north 21 by the railroad tracks; Mel then built a house, cabin and lake where they lived for forty-two years.  Anita was the co-owner and a broker for United Farm Realty for several years.  She enjoyed working on the farm and gardening.  Anita loved her husband and all the times they had together.  She was a kind and generous woman who will be greatly remembered by all.

Visitation was held Monday, August 16, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri at 12:00 PM with Reverend Bruce Pittman officiating.  Honoring Anita by serving as pallbearers were, J. Paul Tindall, Jason Robart, Chris Robart, Ian Hedberg, Mike Robart and Gary McIntyre.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.

Minx.  Brice departed this life on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-four years, three months and five days.

Brice is survived by three sisters, Betty Bobo of Potosi, Missouri, Frances Bliss and husband Delbert of Potosi, Missouri, Ruth Winkleman and husband, Jim of DeSoto, Missouri; two brothers, Bernard Minks and wife, Betty of Lonedell, Missouri, James Minx of Stanton, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, Brice was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Minx, Shirley Kirby and Anna Thomas.

Brice enjoyed working with tools and was always making some sort of crafts.  He loved spending time with family and friends, who will greatly miss him.

Visitation was held Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Gary Petty officiating.  Honoring Brice by serving as pallbearers were: Bryan Bliss, Mike Winkleman, Mike Frantzen, Kenny Kirby, George Brimm and Jimmy Kirby.

Final Prayers and burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Bub, Laura

Laura Bub of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, August 20, 1912 in Belgrade, Missouri a daughter of the late Bessie (Tedder) King-Brooks and Edward King.  Laura departed this life on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-seven years, eleven months and twelve days.

Laura was united in marriage to Henry Bub on October 3, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Laura is survived by one son, Julian Donnell Bub and wife, Joyce of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Kay and husband, Donald Strange of Nixa, Missouri; five grandchildren, Juliann Rowe and husband, John of Madison, Alabama, Lesley Robinson and husband, Greg of Springfield, Missouri, Kirsten Adams and husband, Jason of Nixa, Missouri, Tara Politte and husband, Marcus of Park Hills, Missouri, Kendra Reed of Leawood, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda and Zach Rowe, Shelby and Bailie Robinson, Jaxon and Greta Adams and Zachary Pini; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by one son, James Edward Bub, one daughter, Nancy Jane Bub Reed, two sisters, Lucy Gillam, Frances Pierce and one brother, Leslie King.

For thirty-two years, Laura taught 5th grade in Potosi.  Throughout her career, several generations of students passed through her classroom.  Many of these individuals had continued to be part of her life.  She was known as a very special individual whose pleasant disposition, cheerful smile, and optimistic outlook on life served as an inspiration.

Laura was devoted to her community and served in many community organizations.  She was a founding member of the Washington County Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary and a charter member of the Potosi Lioness Club.  When the Lions Club allowed women to join, she was one of the first.  Laura was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth’s Workbasket Extension, the Minerva Society, and the Presbyterian Church Circle.  As a forty-seven year member of the Washington County 4-H Clubs, she was a leader for her son and granddaughter and continued her service for many years.  She was a founding committee member of the Potosi Community Betterment Program and a long-time board member of the Washington County Council on Aging.  She never stopped being a member of the community she loved.  She even voted the last Wednesday of her life for one of her former 5th grade students.

Since 1979, Laura had enjoyed all of the activities at the Sayers Senior Center.  In 2004, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives honored Laura with an outstanding Missouri Senior Citizen House Resolution recognizing her as the oldest active resident of Sayers Senior Center.  Because of her involvement with the Center, she was able to enjoy her passion for dancing.  She rarely missed a dance and always encouraged her family to attend and dance with her.

Laura enjoyed passing along childhood memories to her family.  With her wonderful sense of humor, they always brought a laugh.  Her granddaughters and great-grandchildren will miss being entertained by her childhood stories. She will be lovingly remembered by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Visitation was held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Potosi Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jerry Compton officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Honoring Laura by serving as pallbearers were: John Rowe, Zach Rowe, Shelby Robinson, Jaxon Adams, David Pierce, Darrell Pierce, Raymond King, Dale Bub and Marcus Politte.
