Charles Franklin Rand
Charles F. Rand of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on Wednesday, December 11, 1940 in Benton, Arkansas. Charles was a son of the late Hazel (Elliott) Rand and Frank D. Rand. Charles departed this life on Friday, June 15, 2007 at his residence having reached the age of sixty-six years, six months and four days.
Charles was united in marriage to Hazel Irene Brewer on July 24, 1993 in Potosi, Missouri.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Hazel Rand of Mineral Point, Missouri; four sons, Darren Rand and wife Jeanine of Denver, Colorado, Scott Rand and wife Amy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Steve Rand and wife Leslie of Portland, Oregon and Tim Rand; one daughter, Tracey of Kansas; one step-daughter, Gail Blankenship and husband Jim of Elsberry, Missouri; one sister, Betty Wilburn and husband Arthur of Easton, Kansas; one brother, Jim Rand and wife Phyllis of Leander, Texas; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jetty Benson and Opal Shoults both of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Frank Rand.
Charlie was an outstanding football player during his high school years in Lansing, Kansas. Charlie was a huge football fan, with the Kansas City Chiefs being his favorite team. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. Charlie owned and operated a Piper Cherokee Airplane which he loved flying and giving rides to family and friends. He was active with the Civil Air Patrol for many years and remained as a current member. Charlie enjoyed visiting with his many pilot friends. Charlie worked as a district manager for Texaco and also part time at Auto Zone. He had an undying love for his devoted and wonderful wife, Hazel and also loved his dog, Piper very much.
A Memorial Reception was held Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Military Honors consisting of the Flag presentation and Taps was presented by Washington County
V.F.W. Post 6996.
Memorials in honor of Charles may be directed to the local Civil Air Patrol Chapter.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
