Butler, Francis “Stupe”

Francis “Stupe” Junior Butler

Francis “Stupe” Butler of Richwoods, Missouri was born on June 17, 1947 in Richwoods, Missouri a son of the late, Alice Margaret (Rulo) Butler and Francis Virgil Butler.  Francis departed this life on December 20, 2008 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-one years, six months and three days.

Francis is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Messex and husband, Arlis of Richwoods, Missouri, Christine Stewart and husband, Marvin of Hollister, Missouri; five brothers, Joseph Butler of Richwoods, Missouri, James Butler and wife, Norma of Richwoods, Missouri, Carl Butler and wife, Brenda of Richwoods, Missouri, Donald Butler and wife, Shirley of Farmington, Missouri, Robert Butler and wife, Hazel of Richwoods, Missouri; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Francis was a member of the Richwoods Freewill Baptist Church and loved to attend.  He enjoyed tinkering on cars, hunting and fishing.  Francis was a bus driver for the Richwoods school district and served on the school board for many years.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.  All will forever miss Francis or “Stupe” as he was known by many.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Jim Parker officiating.  Honoring Francis by serving as pallbearers were: Benjamin Messex, Nicholas Messex, Joshua Messex, Robert Butler, Jr., Kristopher Butler, James Butler, Jr., Mike Butler and Steven Butler.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, Missouri.  Where Francis received full military honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
