Harold H. Fraley
Harold Herbert Fraley of Arnold, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home in the care and love of his dear family. Harold was born on Thursday, February 11, 1926 in Porsha, Arkansas a son of the late Ollie Mae (Hendon) Fraley and John H. Fraley. Harold was Eighty-four years, Six months and Fifteen days of age at the time of his passing.
Harold was united in marriage to Ruth Alberta Davis on December 23, 1944 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Harold is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more then Sixty-five years, Alberta Fraley of Arnold; one son, Bob Fraley and daughter-in-law Donna of Arnold, Missouri; six grandchildren, Bill Fraley, Don Fraley and wife Courtney, Angie Murphy and husband Pat, Missy Wilhoit and husband Andy, Jeff McEntire and wife Michelle and Janet Wagner and husband Jeff; fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Elaine Skaggs and husband Bill of Potosi, Missouri and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear and special friends. In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by one son, Richard “Rick” Harold Fraley; four sisters, Dorothy Bippen, Wanda Hudson, Lois Walton and Opal Fraley; four brothers, Arthur Fraley, Johnny Fraley, Orville Junior Fraley and Jessie “Buck” Fraley.
Harold served this great country in the United States Army. He enlisted on April 19, 1944 and was Honorably Discharged on April 19, 1946. Harold received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Carbine Ex and the SMG Ex qualifications. He served in the Central Europe Campaign and was decorated with one Overseas Bar, the American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Harold did receive a Purple Heart for injuries he received during his tour of duty.
Harold was employed with Anheuser Busch Brewery for forty-one years. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Local 1187 Union and was a longtime Vice President of the Union.
Harold enjoyed fishing, playing phinochle and during his younger years he loved to bowl. He enjoyed relaxing watching old westerns and the CNN channel. He was a member of the V.F.W. Harold loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to their visits.
Visitation was held Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Mike Jarvis officiating.
Burial and Final Prayers were held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Bill Fraley, Don Fraley, Jeff McEntire, Pat Murphy, Andy Wilhoit and Jeff Wagner. Honorary Pallbearers were Shane Fraley, Tony McEntire, Tommy McEntire, Cody McEntire, Robbie Murphy and Ricky Fraley.
The Missouri Funeral Honors team and the Washington County Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #6996 gave military Honors. Honors included a Gun Salute, Taps and Folding and Presentation of the United States Flag.
