Eric Shane Belt

Eric Shane Belt of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, February 28, 1979 in Farmington, Missouri. He was the son of Linda Diane Belt. Eric departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 having reached the age of twenty-six years, eight months, and twenty-five days.

Eric is survived by his loving mother, Linda Diane Belt of Potosi, Missouri, adopted sister, Sonia Moore of St. Louis, Missouri, also surviving are aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Eric was a 1997 graduate of Potosi Senior High School, Potosi, Missouri. During his school years, he was active in track and played the trombone. Eric enjoyed playing billiards and cards. He loved to go to concerts. He was an avid artist with his pencil, he loved to doodle and draw caricatures.

Eric had a great sense of humor and would always find a way to put a smile on your face or bring laughter to the crowd. He had a great love for his family and friends, with his many friends being the driving force in his life, and he showed that with listening and understanding. He was a true and special friend to all.

Upon graduation from high school, Eric, enlisted in the United State Army. He had a great love for this Country and was very proud to serve. During his seven years of service, Eric served in Nicaragua, South Korea and in Iraq. He was attached to D Company, 57th Signal BN FC and was Sergeant in rank. Eric was a network switching systems operator and maintainer for seven years and four months. He was decorated with the following; Army lapel button, Army achievement medal (5th Award), Joint meritorious unit award, Global War on Terrorism expeditionary medal, Global War on Terrorism service medal, Army Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned officer’s development ribbon, Army service Ribbon and Air Assault Badge. He had also continued his education in network switching system operator and maintainer, nuclear biological chemical defense, primary leadership development, field sanitation and network nodal integration management. Eric was Honorably Discharged April 30, 2005 at Fort Hood, Texas.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Grassy Hollow Cemetery in Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Don Strauser officiating. Full Military Honors were provided by the Missouri Funeral Honors Team.

Burial took place at the Grassy Hollow Cemetery in Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
