Leo David Dickey of Belgrade, Missouri, was born November 9, 1928, in Belgrade, Missouri, a son of the late Hartie William and Pearl Hazel (Seabourne) Dickey. Leo departed this life March 5, 2019, having reached the age of 90 Years, 3 Months and 24 Days.
Leo was united in marriage to Carole Snyder on October 9, 1955, in High Hill, Missouri.
Leo is survived by his loving wife Carole Dickey of Belgrade, MO, two daughters, Debbie Bay and husband Wade of Caledonia, MO, Diane Tinsley and husband Tom of Caledonia, MO, three sons, Daniel Dickey and wife Joy of Dallas, TX, David Dickey and friend Becky of Belgrade, MO, Donald Dickey and wife Linda of Rockford, IL, one sister, Ina Carol O’Neal and husband John of Irondale, MO, one brother, Larry Dickey and wife Nancy of Columbus, OH, one sister-in-law, Alta Dickey of St. Louis, MO, two brothers-in-law, John Snyder and wife Shirleen of Springfield, IL, Bill Vineyard of Belgrade, MO, nine grandchildren, Wm. Michael Gum and wife Ashley, Jeremy Dickey and friend Amber, Jason Dickey and friend Candace, Laura Dyess and husband Chuck, Aaron Dickey and wife Brittney, Kimberly Barnhouse and husband Casey, Shane Tinsley and wife Whitney, Sean Tinsley and Courtney Tilson and spouse Lora, eleven great grandchildren, Lexie, Hadleigh, Eli, Mazie, Anniston, Kaiden, Kamryn, McKenna, Kendall, Kalissa and Jazmyn. In addition to his parents Leo was also preceded in death by one brother, Elmo Seabourne Dickey.
Leo served this country in the United States Army. He was inducted January 17, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri. He served in the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal with 3 Camp Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was attached to the Heavy Motor Company, 38th Infantry. He was an E4 Corporal. Leo was transferred to the Army Reserve. Leo received an Honorary Discharge on September 25, 1956 and released from Camp Crowder, Missouri.
Leo was a kind and hard-working man, he had a great love for his wife and all of his family. Each of them held a very dear and special place in his heart. He greatly enjoyed all the family reunions. He enjoyed taking time and going fishing with his many friends. Later in life he spent time on his computer and visiting with his many face book friends. His daily trips included time spent at the local coffee shops and at the Dickey Farm Supply where he still continued to visit and help serve the many farmers. He worked for many years with the Modern American Life Insurance Company, on his farm and started the Dickey Farm Supply in 1972 and retiring due to illness in 2017.
His love for family, people and community was something that guided his life. From serving his country, to business owner to volunteer. He was a member of the Belgrade United Methodist Church, Bismarck VFW, Washington County Democrat Club, Valley Lions Club, Belgrade Masonic Lodge, Past Master and 65-year member, Caledonia Community Betterment, MRPC for 14 years and the Valley R-6 School Board Past President and member.
A kind and loving man always stood tall and ready to help anyone in need. He will be lovingly remembered and forever loved.
