Lillian Allen
Lillian Allen of DeSoto, Missouri formerly of Potosi, Missouri was born Thursday, March 25, 1920 at Boss, Missouri a daughter of the late Rosa (White) Bay and Edward Bay. Lil departed this life at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Festus, Missouri surrounded by the love and care of her dear family on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the age of Eighty-five years and Nineteen days.
Lil was united in marriage to Floyd James Allen on June 6, 1937 in Potosi, Missouri and they were blessed to have four children born to the union. Floyd preceded his wife in death on May 28, 1997.
Lil is survived by daughter Ruth Ann Allen and husband Ignacio Correa of Temecula, California; son James “Jim” David Allen and wife Chloe` of Festus, Missouri; three sisters, Edith Charboneau and husband Aaron of Sullivan, Missouri, Lois Reese of Farmington, Missouri, Dorothy Notgrass of Braggadocio, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Thomas Cummins and wife Jennifer of Memphis, Tennessee, Elizabeth Kay (Allen) KuyKendall and husband Larry of Jackson, Missouri, Eric James Allen and wife DeAmbra of Herculaneum, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Lauren and Thomas Cummins of Memphis, Tennessee, Allison and Logan KuyKendall of Jackson, Missouri, Miranda Allen of Herculaneum, Missouri and by many nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear and special friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Lil was also preceded in death by two daughters, Anita Allen and Marita Allen, three brothers, Norman Bay, Howard Bay and Edward Bay, Jr..
Lil had a great love for her Savior and Lord and was a charter member of the Bates Creek Baptist Church.
Lil loved to spend time reading all types of interesting books and playing scrabble. She was a leader with the 4-H and the Girl Scouts of America. She loved to spend time Quilting and got great satisfaction in passing them on to others and seeing the joy on their faces.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 14, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, April 15, 2005 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
The Funeral Service was held Friday, April 15, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Mike Jarvis officiating. Musical selections played was “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Sweet By and By”.
Lil was Laid to Rest at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri next to her husband. Servings as Pallbearers were Eric Allen, Jeff Cummins, David Charboneau, Lynn Kelsey, Dale Allen and Jesse Jarvis.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
