MARY AMMON OF FARMINGTON, MISSOURI WAS BORN THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1915 IN LIMERICK, IRELAND, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE MARY (SHIELS) O'CONNOR AND DANIEL O'CONNOR. MARY ENTERED INTO GOD'S KINGDOM TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2003 AT THE ASHBROOK MANOR, FARMINGTON, MISSOURI AT THE AGE OF EIGHTY-SEVEN YEARS, NINE MONTHS AND FIFTEEN DAYS.
MARY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE ARTHUR M. AMMON ON DECEMBER 14, 1946 IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
MARY IS SURVIVED BY A VERY DEAR AND SPECIAL NIECE, MARY BOYER AND HUSBAND JOHN OF CADET, MISSOURI ALONG WITH THEIR FAMILY CLAYTON AND BILLIE, DOUGLAS AND MINDY AND RICHARD; NEPHEW DAN COOKE AND WIFE PIPPA OF ENGLAND; NIECE CAROL ALLARD AND HUSBAND JIM OF ENGLAND; TWO SISTERS, BRIDGET COOKE AND HUSBAND BILL OF WELWYN HERTS, ENGLAND AND JOAN HOLMES OF MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA; ONE BROTHER DANIEL O'CONNOR OF DESBOROUGH NORTHANTS, ENGLAND AND BY MANY OTHER SPECIAL RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND HUSBAND SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY TWO SISTERS, BETTY O'REILLY AND ITA LYNCH; TWO BROTHERS, MICHAEL O'CONNOR AND JOHN O'CONNOR.
MARY HAD ACCEPTED CHRIST AND WAS A LONG TIME FAITHFUL MEMBER OF THE ST. MARY MAGDALEN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND ENJOYED SPENDING MANY HOURS VOLUNTEERING WITH THEIR QUILTING BEE. SHE BECAME A U.S. CITIZEN IN 1952. HER WORK HISTORY INCLUDED BEING A SEAMSTRESS AT LARGE STORES IN HER HOME COUNTRY OF IRELAND, IN ENGLAND AND IN NEW YORK. SHE ALSO WORKED IN THE MINISTRY OF SUPPLY IN LONDON, ENGLAND AND REFERRED TO HERSELF AS A G. I. BRIDE.
TO RELAX, MARY ENJOYED WORKING CROSSWORD PUZZLES AND PLAYING BINGO.
MARY WAS A VERY LOVING AND OPEN HEARTED WOMAN, HER FAMILY WAS HELD VERY DEAR TO HER. EACH OF THEM SHINED LIKE A DIAMOND IN THE SUN. SHE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE BIRTHRIGHT AT ST. MARY MAGDALEN PARISH AND ALWAYS HELPFUL UNTIL HER HEALTH FAILED HER. SHE ENJOYED BEING AT ASH BROOK MANOR IN FARMINGTON WHERE SHE MET MANY NEW FRIENDS AND ALSO WHERE THEY MADE HER FEEL AT HOME. MARY LEFT THE CITY LIFE OF ST. LOUIS TO COME TO FARMINGTON TO LIVE WITH HER NEPHEW DOUG AND MINDY BOYER, SHE ENJOYED THE GIRLS AND DUE TO ANOTHER FALL SHE THEN HAD TO ENTER ASH BROOK.
MARY'S GREATEST WISH AND CONTINUED PRAYER WAS PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2003 FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AND FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 2003 FROM 8:30 A.M. TO 11:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2003 AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE MEMORIAL CHAPEL WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. MUSICAL SELECTIONS PLAYED FOR THE SERVICE WERE BE NOT AFRAID AND HOW GREAT THOU ART. BURIAL WAS HELD AT THE SUNSET MEMORIAL CEMETERY, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2003 AT 2:00 P.M. SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE JOHN BOYER, DOUG BOYER, RICH BOYER AND MINDY BOYER. MEMORIALS MAY BE DIRECTED TO BIRTH RIGHT, % ST. MARY MAGDALEN CATHOLIC CHURCH, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
SERVICES WERE ENTRUSTED TO THE CARE AND DIRECTION OF THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
