Norma Jean Barbee of Bismarck, Missouri was born on Saturday, June 18, 1932 in Leadwood, Missouri a daughter of the late, Bessie (Lawson) Woods and Ralph Woods. Norma Jean departed this life on Monday, December 20, 2010 at her residence having reached the age of seventy-eight years, six months and two days.
Norma Jean was united in marriage to Lester L. Barbee on April 21, 1951.
Norma Jean is survived by her husband, Lester L. Barbee of Bismarck, Missouri; one daughter, Janice Brewer and husband, Aaron of Park Hills, Missouri; two sons, Gary Barbee and wife, Lily of Springfield, Missouri, Terry Barbee and wife, Carla of Bismarck, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Hardy of Bismarck, Missouri, Virginia “Nin” Elders and husband, Delmar of Farmington, Missouri; five grandchildren, Amy Burks, Tiffany Morgan, Chad Barbee, Tyson Wilkins, Carissa Brewer; six great-grandchildren, Kensen Burks, Tanner Morgan, Keeley Barbee, Taylor Morgan, Ryder Barbee, EmmaLynn Wilkins; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including her loving caregivers: Beverly, Joyce, Rhonda, Trena and JoAnn. In addition to her parents, Norma Jean was preceded in death by one sister, Alberta Iona “Ann” Hartman.
Norma Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bismarck, Missouri. She enjoyed scrap booking, making many beautiful crafts, cooking and baking. Norma Jean also enjoyed traveling all over the United States and going fishing. She loved spending time with her family and friends who will always remember Norma Jean for her loving ways.
Visitation was held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Irondale, Missouri and Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bismarck First Baptist Church.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bismarck First Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Walker officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Adams Cemetery, Frankclay, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Tyson Wilkins, Chad Barbee, Josh Morgan, Shawn Burks, Kevin Hardy and Mike Hardy.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 104 Oak Street, Irondale, Missouri.
