Gladine Benson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on Friday, December 21, 2012 surrounded by the love and care of her family. Gladine was born Wednesday, November 3, 1926 in Potosi, a daughter of the late Edith Collins (Fitts) Isgriggs and Less B. Isgriggs. Gladine was Eighty-six years, one month and eighteen days of age.
Gladine was united in marriage to the late Richard “Sonny” Curtis Benson, Sr., on September 30, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Gladine is survived by three daughters, Edith Longley and husband Glen of Terre Du Lac, Marilyn Gibson and husband Norman of Hopewell, Marsha Thurmond and husband Steve of Hopewell; one son, James “Jimmy” Benson and wife Adele of Potosi; one sister, Rowena Allen of Potosi; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and by many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladine was preceded in death by her son, Richard Curtis Benson, Jr. and his wife Helen “Chicken” Benson; son-in-law, Donald Howell; three brothers, Damon Isgriggs, Clyde Isgriggs and Ewel Isgriggs.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
The Funeral Service was held Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home with brother Gary Nash officiating. Musical selections were When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder, Silent Night and Amazing Grace.
Final Prayers and Burial was at the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri. Honoring the memory of Gladine and serving as Pallbearers were Merlen Benson, Michael Essmyer, Harry Thurmond, Michael Toombs, Jack Toombs and Kenny Schnitker.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
