John William Benson

John William Benson of Potosi, Missouri, was born February 16, 1940, in Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Ray and Mildred (Willis) Benson. John departed this life Thursday, March 28, 2019, having reached the age of 79 Years, 1 Month and 12 Days.

John was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Ritzmann on May 29, 1989, in Potosi, Missouri.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Benson of Potosi, MO, six daughters, Kim Coleman and husband Richard of Potosi, MO, Netta Heberlie and husband J.R. of Farmington, MO, Crystal Craig of Cadet, MO, Tina Tate and husband Joe of Cadet, MO, Shannon Gravett and husband Jake of Cadet, MO, Billie Rae Silvey and husband Andy of Potosi, MO, three sons, Bucky Benson and wife Billie of Farmington, MO, Bill Short of Potosi, MO, Jon Short and wife Michelle of Knoxville, IA, one sister Mary Ann Thurman and husband John of Farmington, MO, two brothers, Dale Benson and wife Marilyn of St. James, MO, Bob Benson and wife Eleanor of Potosi, MO, 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and by many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents John was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Dennis Craig and by two grandchildren.

John had a great love for the outdoors, he enjoyed all types of hunting, especially Fox, Coon and Rabbit hunting. He enjoyed visiting and going to the Junk Stores. If he was not around where you were looking he could be found in the barn tinkering with something.

A kind and loving man with a great heart who will forever be loved and remembered.
