ETHEL MILDRED BLAIR OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN FEBRUARY 4, 1919, IN OLD MINES, MISSOURI, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ANDREW AND HALLIE (WEBB) DEGONIA. ETHEL DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT POTOSI MANOR NURSING HOME ON JANUARY 10, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY YEARS, ELEVEN MONTHS AND SIX DAYS.
ETHEL WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE GLEN BLAIR ON JANUARY 12, 1946, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION TWO CHILDREN WERE BORN. ETHEL IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, RICHARD BLAIR OF POTOSI, ONE DAUGHTER LINDA PEDDICORD AND HUSBAND DAVID OF CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, TWO GRANDCHILDREN AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND SPOUSE SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE BROTHER, ANDREW DEGONIA, JR. AND ONE SISTER, LILLIE PORTELL.
ETHEL WAS A MEMBER OF ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE LADIES AUXILIARY OF THE AMERICAN LEGION. ETHEL ENJOYED FARM LIFE AND THE YEARS SHE SPENT WITH HER LATE HUSBAND WORKING HARD ON THE FARM. ETHEL WAS A KIND AND LOVING WOMAN WITH A GENTLE HEART AND A STRONG DESIRE TO HELP THOSE IN NEED.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, JANUARY 13, 2000, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 2000, AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN CALVARY CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, GARRY BLAIR, PHIL CARTWRIGHT, ROSS BLAIR, RON FRYMAN, LEO BLAIR AND DAVID PEDDICORD.
