James Howard “Chigger” Bleything



James “Chigger” Bleything of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, March 15, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri and died suddenly on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 due to a traffic related accident having reached the age of fifty-seven years, eleven months and twenty-five days.

He is survived by Connie Bleything of Potosi, Missouri, three sons, Nat Bleything and Jill Askew of Viburnum, Missouri, Josh Bleything and Joyce Young of Viburnum, Missouri, Travis Bleything and wife, Carla of Columbia, Missouri; two daughters, Dona Bleything of Viburnum, Missouri, Kayshe Gamblin and husband, Keith of Viburnum, Missouri; mother, Betty (Smith) Bleything of Kirksville, Missouri; one sister, Candy Quaitt of Piedmont, Missouri; three brothers, Rick Bleything and wife, Tammy of Kirksville, Missouri, Todd Bleything and wife, Pam of Kirksville, Missouri, Joe Bleything of Kirksville, Missouri; one grandson, Kaleb Gamblin; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. “Chigger” was preceded in death by his father, Don Eithel, stepfather, Ed Bleything and grandmother, Mildred Lowe.

“Chigger” was born and raised in Kirksville, Missouri a son of Betty and Don Eithel and was later adopted by his stepfather, Ed Bleything. “Chigger” served in the United States Army enlisting on December 18, 1967 and served as a Paratrooper in Korea. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1968. “Chigger” worked as a truck driver and enjoyed driving from coast to coast. He loved Mother Nature and her many gifts regardless of the weather. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and baseball. “Chigger” loved spending time with his family especially his grandson, Kaleb.

Visitation was held Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jeff Richards officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Jason Hedrick, Joe Britton, Jerry Paintner, Charlie Duvall, Little Charlie Duvall, Tim Curran, and Brad Tinker.

Final Prayers and Burial took in the Antioch Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri where “Chigger” received full military honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
