Dale Bobbett
June 15, 1939 — June 3, 2013
Richard Dale Bobbett of Potosi, Missouri passed away June 3, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Preceding him in death was a Son, Richard “Dickie” Bobbett and his parents, Richard and Florence (Cresswell) Bobbett.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bobbett of Potosi, one son, Michael Bobbett of Bonne Terre, Missouri, one daughter, Sherri (Dan) Mansfield and one very special granddaughter, Emily Mansfield all of Florissant, Missouri, two stepchildren Vickie (Eric) Peterson of Blackwell and Kenny Bailey of Potosi, Missouri and numerous relatives and friends.
Dale was born in Herculaneum, Missouri to Richard (Dick) and Florence Bobbett on June 15, 1939. When Dale was approximately 12, they moved to Mineral Point . Dale played baseball in High School and was also the Captain of the Basketball team. He graduated from Potosi High School in 1957. He immediately went to work at General Motors in St. Louis and retired from there after 30 years.
His children meant the world to him. When Emily was born he always referred to her as “the baby”, and continued to call her that even though she is now 17 years old. He always looked forward to visits and phone calls from his children. He was happy when his pets were beside him.
He belonged to the Elks Lodge in Potosi and participated in most of their functions. He loved sports, especially college basketball and football. Every year he looked forward to March Madness.
Dale was always a person who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved having a garden and sharing the bounty with others and planted one this Spring.
Dale used to love to fish and hunt. Last year, he gave Emily his deer rifle, which she was so proud of. She proved to him she knew how to use it when she bagged a 9 point buck the same year. He glowed with pride when he saw pictures of it. Dale will be deeply missed by family and friends. The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences, concerns and kindness at this time.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missorui.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Dwight Petete officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Russell Cresswell, Greg Coleman, Rod Dennis, JR Cresswell, Ed Payne and Ken Kettley.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Lost Creek Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Moore Funeral Homes was Honored to be selected to guide and direct the services for Mr. Bobbett.
