Theresa “Sis” Bourbon of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, November 26, 1923 in Dogpatch, Missouri a daughter of the late, Marcella Emma (Torrence) Portell and Alfred Eugene Portell. Theresa departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2011 having reached the age of eighty-seven years, four months and twenty-three days.
Theresa was united in marriage to Donald E. Bourbon on September 28, 1974 in DeSoto, Missouri.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Donald Bourbon of Potosi, Missouri; three daughters, Delores Graves of Old Mines, Missouri, Sue Kennedy and husband, Joe of Pevely, Missouri, Judy Callahan and husband, Carl of Cuba, Missouri; one son, Keith Portell and Linda Smith of Cannon Mines, Missouri; one stepson, Donald Wayne Bourbon and wife, Debra of Cedar Hill, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Belinda Beauchamp and husband, Lonnie of Pevely, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Litteral, Emma Portell, two sons, Glen Portell, Mark Portell, three sisters, Daphney Skaggs, Monica Reando, Edie Mitchell, five brothers, Andrew Portell, Bernard Portell, Floyd Portell, Adrian Portell, Nelson Portell, two grandsons, Tony Drennen and Douglas Dean.
Theresa was a very generous woman always giving her time to help others, some would say she lived a lifetime of doing. She enjoyed playing bingo and quilting. Theresa’s greatest joy was her family and the time they spent together. She was a remarkable person who will always be remembered for the love and laughter she shared.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri and Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church. The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 48, DeSoto, Missouri, held a Memorial Service Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7:00 PM.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church with Brother Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Robbie Noll, Ryan Cole, Dan Lawrence, Allen Gibson, Dan Veach and Derril Portell.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
