Aurelia L. Bowman of Richwoods, Missouri was born on Tuesday, November 23, 1937 in Richwoods, Missouri a daughter of the late, Kattie (Scaggs) Smith and Benjamin Smith. Aurelia departed this life on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her residence having reached the age of seventy-four years and fourteen days.
Aurelia was united in marriage to Forrest R. Bowman on March 2, 1957 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Richwoods, Missouri.
Aurelia or “Lady” as she was known by many is survived by her husband, Forrest R. Bowman of Richwoods, Missouri; daughter, Angie Blake and husband, Keith of Richwoods, Missouri; sister, Catherine Boyer of House Springs, Missouri; three step-grandchildren, Kelli Blake, Becki Blake, Jordan Blake; two step great-grandchildren, Hailey Reese, Cason Reese; two dogs, Holli, Spider; two grand doggies, Tinnie, Magget; good friends, Bertha Schrum of Richwoods, Missouri and Tonya Coleman; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Aurelia was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma “Sis” Messex, Dorothy Marie Smith, Helen Declores Smith, five brothers, William “Bill” Smith, Joseph “Joe” Smith, George “Pid” Smith, Clarence “Poker” Smith and James “Pug” Smith.
“Lady” enjoyed being with her family especially her husband, the love of her life. She was the 1st President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Richwoods Lion Club and organized their 1st carnival. “Lady” loved to spend time outdoors, camping, fishing and deer hunting. She also enjoyed dancing, sewing and painting her lawn ornaments. “Lady” loved taking care of her dogs, Spider and Hollie. She was always careful to place her rodeo chair against a wall so it wouldn’t take off backwards. Aurelia loved to attended the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Richwoods, Missouri and reading her Bible with her favorite verse being; Psalms 17 Verse 8: “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings”.
Visitation was held Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri and Friday, December 9, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Way of Life Tabernacle, Richwoods, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 12:00 PM at the Way of Life Tabernacle, Richwoods, Missouri with Reverend Darlene DeClue officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were: Bud Smith, Keith Blake, Bobby Bowman, Doug Kavanaugh, James Woods and Delmar Elliott.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
