Betty Boyer of St. Louis, Missouri formerly of Potosi, Missouri was born on Thursday, September 8, 1938 in Old Mines, Missouri a daughter of the late, Mary Louise (Coleman) Boyer and Peter A. Boyer. Betty departed this life on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, Fenton, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-four years, eleven months and twelve days.
Betty is survived by five sisters, Nancy Shy of Kansas City, Missouri; Dorothy “Dot” Rodriguez of St. Louis, Missouri; Diane Crocker and husband, Ken of Park Hills, Missouri; Debbie Coleman and husband, Joe of Mineral Point, Missouri; Melinda Fuchs and husband, Marty of High Ridge, Missouri; three brothers, Michael “Mickey” Boyer of Arnold, Missouri; John L. Boyer and wife, Nancy of Potosi, Missouri; David “Eddie” Boyer and wife, Carla of Farmington, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her grandparents, John L. and Mary E. Boyer and John J. and Mary E. Coleman and one sister, Theresa “Chee-Chee” Garnto, two nephews, J. Akers, “Little” John Boyer, one sister-in-law, Peggy Boyer.
Betty’s Catholic faith and spirituality were very important parts of her life and she always enjoyed attending Mass. She worked as a trained pattern maker for the clothing industry and had her cosmetology license. Betty enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, decorating and traveling all over the United States. She was a great listener and confidant, which was evident in the many wonderful friends she had. Betty was a very traditional woman and always looked after her brothers and sisters. She was a very compassionate, generous woman who will be missed dearly by her family and many friends.
Visitation was held Friday, August 23, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father Richard Tillman officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Keith Akers, T.J. Coleman, Dwayne Boyer, Corey Clark, Ryan Garnto, Billy Boyer and honorary pallbearer, Zane Thomure
In lieu of flowers memorials are to be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at 201 N. Missouri St., Potosi, Missouri or to the Missouri Right to Life at PO Box 651, Jefferson City, MO 65102.
Moore Funeral Homes was Honored to be selected to direct the services for Betty, her family and friends.
