JOSEPH (JACK) BOYER
JOSEPH BOYER OF CADET MISSOURI, WAS BORN ON FEBRUARY 2, 1923. A SON OF THE LATE EDWARD AND NELLIE (MILLER) BOYER. JOSEPH DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON OCTOBER 6, 1999 AT HIS RESIDENCE IN CADET, MISSOURI AT THE AGE OF SEVENTY SIX YEARS, SEVEN MONTHS AND TWENTY FOUR DAYS.
JOSEPH WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE AGATHA (DECLUE) BOYER ON OCTOBER 20, 1944.
JOSEPH IS SURVIVED BY FIVE SONS, BUD AND WIFE, SANDI BOYER OF IRONDALE, JOSEPH JR. AND WIFE, KAREN BOYER OF PONDCREEK, MISSOURI, KENNY AND WIFE, KIM BOYER OF CADET, MISSOURI, JAMES AND WIFE, DIANE BOYER OF BELLE, MISSOURI, AND ROGER AND WIFE, PENNY BOYER OF MIDDLEBROOK, MISSOURI. THREE DAUGHTERS, SHIRLEY AND HUSBAND DAVE RAMSEY OF WOODRIVER, ILLINOIS, ROSE LEA AND HUSBAND JAMES (BOOTS) COLEMAN OF CADET, MISSOURI, CATHY COMPTON OF BETHALTO, ILLINOIS. SEVEN BROTHERS, JOHN AND WIFE MARY BOYER OF CADET, MISSOURI, DAN BOYER OF POTOSI , MISSOURI, LEE AND WIFE PAT BOYER OF DESOTO, MISSOURI, LAWRENCE AND WIFE NELDA BOYER OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, EDWARD AND WIFE BETTY OF LUEBBERING, MISSOURI, PAUL AND WIFE JOAN BOYER OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND ROBERT AND WIFE MARY BOYER OF CADET, MISSOURI. FOUR SISTERS, THERESA GOLDEN OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, GERTRUDE (TRUDY) EDWARDS OF GARDENIA, CALIFORNIA, MARGARET AND HUSBAND PAUL DECLUE OF CADET, MISSOURI, AND EDITH AND HUSBAND BOB MARLER OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI. HE HAS TWENTY TWO LOVING GRANDCHILDREN, TEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND A VERY SPECIAL GRANDDAUGHTER, GENEVIEVE COMFORT.
JOSEPH IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE DAUGHTER, MARY ELLEN BOYER, ONE BROTHER, JAMES ORVILLE BOYER AND TWO SISTERS, GLADYS BOYER AND MARY CLARK.
JOSEPH SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY DURING WORLD WAR II. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE VFW POST IN DESOTO, MISSOURI AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE AMVETS IN DESOTO, MISSOURI. JOSEPH WORKED AT MANY JOBS IN HIS LIFE, POTOSI HEEL FACTORY, L.E. MEYERS DOING CONSTRUCTION, AMERICAN CAR FOUNDRY AND A, P. & L. IN HIS YOUNGER DAY, HE STUDIED TAXIDERMY AND SCIENCES AND HE LOVED TO USE HIS IMAGINATION TO INVENT THINGS. JOE ALSO ENJOYED PLAYING THE FIDDLE FOR FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS. HE NEVER MET A STRANGER, ALWAYS HAPPY AND CHEERFUL EVEN UNTIL THE END OF HIS MOST REWARDING LIFE AND THIS IS HOW HE WOULD WANT TO BE REMEMBERED.
VISITATION WAS HELD ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1999 AT 10:00 A.M. AT ST. JOACHIM CHURCH WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE ST. JOACHIM CEMETERY IN CADET, MISSOURI UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE ROBERT "BUD" BOYER, JOSEPH BOYER, JR., KENNETH LEE BOYER, JEFFERY WAYNE BOYER, JAMES WAYNE BOYER AND DAVID RAMSEY.
