Lena Mary Boyer
Lena Boyer of Cadet, Missouri was born on May 8, 1917 in Old Mines, Missouri a daughter of the late, Meadie (DeGonia) Boyer and Charles Boyer. Lena departed this life on April 18, 2009 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-one years, eleven months and ten days.
Lena was united in marriage to Francis G. Boyer on June 28, 1950 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri.
Lena is survived by three sons, Dennis Boyer and wife, Linda of Old Mines, Missouri, Ron Boyer and wife, Pam of Old Mines, Missouri, Don Boyer and wife, Trish of Old Mines, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Susan, Melissa, Willie, Amy, Audra, Daniel and Adam; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lena was preceded in death by her mother and father, Meadie Boyer and Charles Boyer, husband, Francis Boyer who passed away April 12, 1978, one sister, Juliann Thebeau, four brothers, Bernard Boyer, Wallace “Bill” Boyer, twin brother Jesse L. Boyer and Thomas A. Boyer.
Lena was a life long member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri where she received all of her sacramental gifts from God. She was truly devoted to the Blessed Mother and praying her rosary daily. Lena graduated from St. Joachim Catholic School and continued to work and volunteer in all aspects of the school and church activities. She enjoyed cooking and baking, with her specialties being chicken pie and fruitcakes. Lena always loved preparing Sunday dinners. She also enjoyed tending to her outdoor shrine of the Blessed Mother and riding her lawn mower. Lena loved her family, friends and church, who will remember her for all the loved she shared.
Visitation was held Monday, April 20, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Honoring Lena by serving as pallbearers were: Bernard Boyer, Greg Boyer, Ronnie Politte, Tom DeGonia, Eric Stopp, Jason Hahn and Matt Pinson.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
