LEONARD DANIEL BOYER OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN JANUARY 8, 1916, IN BLISS, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE DANIEL AND LENA (SCHUTTE) BOYER. LEONARD DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT POTOSI MANOR NURSING HOME ON JUNE 12, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY-FOUR YEARS, FIVE MONTHS AND FOUR DAYS.
LEONARD WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARY "BETSY" PROKOPF ON NOVEMBER 19, 1942, IN DESOTO, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION SEVEN CHILDREN WERE BORN.
LEONARD IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE BETSY BOYER OF POTOSI, THREE SONS, LEONARD BOYER AND WIFE DOROTHY OF CLEAR LAKE, IOWA, GERARD BOYER AND WIFE ELLEN OF POTOSI, TIM BOYER AND WIFE ROCKY OF POTOSI, THREE DAUGHTERS, SHIRLEY ANN NICKELSON AND HUSBAND FLOYD OF BLACKWELL, MARY JANE CHAPMAN AND HUSBAND LARRY OF CARTERVILLE, ILLINOIS, REBECCA WILLIAMS OF MAYFIELD, KENTUCKY, TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN, FIVE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
LEONARD WAS A LONGTIME MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH. LEONARD'S CAREER STARTED AS AN AUTO MECHANIC , LATER CONTINUING WITH LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS. HIS COMMITMENT AND DESIRE TO SERVE THE PUBLIC GUIDED HIM INTO THE POLITICAL LIFE WHERE HE SPENT TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS SERVING AS CIRCUIT CLERK FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY. AFTER HIS RETIREMENT HE CONTINUED TO HAVE A STRONG INPUT AND GUIDANCE TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. HIS LEISURE HOURS WERE FILLED ENJOYING TIME WITH HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, LEONARD ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO THE TIME HE AND BETSY COULD SPEND SQUARE DANCING.
VISITATION WAS HELD WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14, 2000, FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 2000, AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN CALVARY CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, DOUGLAS NICKELSON, JOHN G. BOYER, TODD BOYER, KEVIN CHAPMAN, LEONARD BOYER AND TIM CAMILLO.
