Richard Kenneth “R.K.” Boyer of Potosi, Missouri was born Friday, February 15, 1952 in Festus, Missouri, a son of Arlene (Pashia) Boyer and Arthur Boyer. Richard was Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church at 2:45 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at his home surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Richard was Fifty-two Years, Two Months and Nineteen Days.
Richard was united in marriage to Patti Coleman November 27, 1971 in Old Mines, Missouri at the St. Joachim Catholic Church and they were blessed to have one daughter and two sons born to the union.
Richard is survived by his mother and father, Arlene and Arthur Boyer of Old Mines, Missouri; wife Patti Boyer of Potosi, Missouri; daughter Sarah Boyer and Fiancé Matt Gibson of Potosi, Missouri; two sons, Douglas Boyer and wife Tina of St. Charles, Missouri, Gilbert Boyer and wife Tara of Belgrade, Missouri; six sisters, Geraldine Skiles and husband Eddie of Potosi, Missouri, Karen Caldwell and husband Rodney of DeSoto, Missouri, Sharon Boyer and husband Joe of Cadet, Missouri, Christine Portell and husband Robert of Cadet, Missouri, Marcia Politte and husband Rick of Cadet, Missouri and Melissa Blair and husband Danny of Cadet, Missouri; five brothers, Daniel Boyer and wife Barb of Cadet, Missouri, Wilfred Boyer and wife Connie of Cannon Mines, Missouri, Randal Boyer and wife Karla of St. Charles, Missouri, Marty Boyer and wife Michelle of Bonne Terre, Missouri and Kevin Boyer and wife Carrie of Cadet, Missouri; three grandchildren, Blake, Braydon and Keegan and by many other relatives and friends.
Richard was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri where he was active with the Church Choir and was often called on to sing the “Our Father” for weddings, funerals and special occasions.
Richard was employed by Parker Banks Chevrolet-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Potosi, Missouri where he was a Sales Consultant and enjoyed working with his many friends. He loved to see a deal closed and the smile on the face of the new owners as they drove away.
Richard had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren. They could bring a smile to his face and open his heart at any time. He enjoyed time with the cows and working in his yard, he was very proud of his yard and flowers. Richard was always ready for a card game and would make time for a game of Euchre. Richard loved to joke and entertain, he had a great talent for singing not only in the band “The Times” but for anyone who would ask. He would willingly take time from work or fun to sing at someone’s request. He had a voice filled with love and a heart filled with joy.
Visitation was held Friday, May 7, 2004 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, May 8, 2004 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Prayer service was held Friday, May 7, 2004 at 6:30 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel led by Father George Galovich.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich and Father Ted Pieper officiating. Music was provided by Rebecca Richards and the 8:00 AM church choir.
Final prayers and burial was held Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 11:50 AM at the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Serving as Pallbearers were Daniel Boyer, Wilfred Boyer, Randal Boyer, Marty Boyer, Kevin Boyer, James Robart and Joe Boyer.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
