Claudia Jean Broombaugh of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, September 25, 1933 in Kenton, Tennessee a daughter of the late, Eva Belle (Rhoades) Singleton and Claude Singleton. Claudia departed this life on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-eight years, two months and twenty-eight days.

Claudia was united in marriage to Glen Eugene Broombaugh on September 5, 1953 at the Baden Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri.

Claudia is survived by her husband, Glen Eugene Broombaugh of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Lydia Thompson and husband, Ricky of Cadet, Missouri, Diane Dalton and husband, Ronnie of Caledonia, Missouri; two sons, John Broombaugh and wife, Deborah of Richwoods, Missouri, Jimmy Broombaugh and wife, Nicole of Cadet, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Fox and husband, Jim of Arnold, Missouri, Brenda Medley and husband, Howard of Marthasville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Paula Broombaugh of Bloomsdale, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Claudia was preceded in death by one son, David S. Broombaugh.

Claudia was a special education teacher at Potosi R-3 School District for many years, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed keeping a very extensive journal of her daily life and watching older T.V. shows like the Walton’s, Little House on the Prairie and game shows. Claudia loved listening to gospel group music with her favorites being the Gaithers and Statlers. She also loved to read, she was a late night person when everyone was asleep that is when she got all her work complete. She loved to go to the Craft Shows and workshops with her husband. She always made sure the booth was organized, decorated and ready to go. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and always had the latest stats as she kept up with every game. Claudia was a kind and generous woman who will be very deeply missed by all.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri and Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 8:30 AM 10:00 AM at the Potosi United Methodist Church, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Potosi United Methodist Church, Potosi, Missouri with Dr. John Ray officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri. Honoring Claudia by serving as pallbearers were: Luke Dalton, Ty Broombaugh, Michael Broombaugh, Stephen Thompson, Eric Broombaugh, Jacob Johns, Holden Nye and Isaac Bondurant.

Memorials may be directed in memory of Claudia to the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation at MRTF; 3030 Dupont Circle; Jefferson City, MO 65109.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, MO 63664.
