Duane “Buck” Buchanan of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, May 15, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2011 at his residence having reached the age of fifty-nine years, eleven months and fourteen days.
“Buck” was united in marriage to Virginia “Gini” Samuels on June 7, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri and this union was blessed with two children.
“Buck” is survived by his loving wife, Gini Buchanan of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Mary Allison Buchanan of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Samuel Andrew Buchanan and wife, Amanda of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Mary Glendelea (Clyburn) Buchanan of Perryville, Missouri; one brother, Michael Buchanan and wife, Irene of Memphis, Tennessee; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. “Buck” was preceded in death by his father, E.A. Buchanan.
Duane graduated from Perryville High School in 1969 and then continued his education at Mineral Area College. “Buck” worked as a conservation agent for the Missouri Department of Conservation for thirty-one years. He was a member or the Potosi United Methodist Church and the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218. He enjoyed playing the guitar and mandolin and spending time with his family and friends. “Buck” loved the outdoors, he was always going hunting or fishing. In his spare time he enjoyed drawing, painting and doing woodwork.
Memorial Visitation was held Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend W. Bruce Pittman officiating.
The celebration of Buck’s life was continued at the Potosi Elks Lodge Reception Hall immediately following services.
