Berniece V. Cadenhead
Berniece V. Cadenhead of Hillsboro, Missouri formerly of Cadet, Missouri was born on Tuesday, December 4, 1917 in Fairdealing, Missouri a daughter of the late, Annabel (King) Moore and Lawrence McDonald Moore. Berniece departed this life on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-two years, seven months and fourteen days.
Berniece was united in marriage to Curtis Eugene “Pappy” Cadenhead on May 10, 1942 in Piggott, Arkansas and were blessed with three children.
Berniece is survived by two daughters, Jackie Benton and husband, Larry of Kirkwood, Missouri, Nancy Cadenhead of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Gene Cadenhead and wife, Sharon of Hillsboro, Missouri; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Violet Moore of Maulden, Missouri, Betty Moore of Holcomb, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis “Pappy” Cadenhead, two sisters, Vivian Stokes, Louise Coleman, two brothers, Everett Moore and Jack Moore.
Berniece enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bird watching. She loved spending time with her family whether it was going out to eat or she was cooking a meal for everyone to enjoy. Berniece also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and Wheel of Fortune on television. “Granny” as she was known by her family and friends, will all deeply miss her.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bernie Crum officiating. Honoring Berniece by singing “Amazing Grace” were two of her great granddaughters, Brianna Benton and Tai’lesha Wiggins. Serving as pallbearers were: Curtis Cadenhead, John Cadenhead, Wesley Benton, Ervin Edwards, Matt Coleman, Danny Joe Reaves and Eddie Wideman.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sandy Baptist Cemetery, Pevely, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
