Reverend Robert J. Campbell of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, August 15, 1933 in Steelville, Missouri a son of the late, Myrtle May (Harper) Campbell and William Robert Campbell. Reverend Robert Campbell departed this life on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-four years and thirty days.

Reverend Robert J. Campbell was united in marriage to Aurelia M. Downard on August 14, 1955 and this union was blessed with ten children. On January 15, 1998 he was married to Norma Lea Gardner in Potosi, Missouri.

Reverend Robert J. Campbell is survived by his loving wife, Norma Campbell of Potosi, Missouri; five daughters, Debra Aurelia Pruett of Potosi, Missouri, Doris May Medlock and husband, Jarvis of Potosi, Missouri, Mary Ann Pruett and husband, Micheal of Linn, Missouri, Carol Ruth Blackwell and husband, Kenneth of Potosi, Missouri, Hazel Lucille Leggans and husband, Gary of Potosi, Missouri; five sons, Reverend Steven R. Campbell and wife, Glenda of Mineral Point, Missouri, Retired Senior Master Sergeant Edward W. Campbell and wife, Minda of Rockwall, Texas, John P. Campbell of Marysville, Washington, Michael L. Campbell and wife, Angela of Springfield, Missouri, Tech. Sergeant Richard J. Campbell of Offutt A.F. Base, Nebraska; four sisters, Gladys M. Carter and husband, Lindell of Potosi, Missouri, Shirley J. Hardin of Richwoods, Missouri, Hazel M. Smith and husband, Richard of Potosi, Missouri, Loretta L. Snowdell and husband, Cleatis of Potosi, Missouri; three brothers, William “Art” Campbell and wife, Ilene of Potosi, Missouri, Thomas L. Campbell and wife, Mildred of Leesburg, Missouri, Albert L. Campbell of Potosi, Missouri; two stepsons, Mark Miller and wife, Stephanie of Freeburg, Illinois, Ernest Miller and wife, Trina of Iberia, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Laurie Jackson and husband, Tom of Granite City, Illinois, Patricia Heath and husband, Larry of Granite City, Illinois; thirty-three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Reverend Robert J. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Aurelia Marple Campbell on September 7, 1997, son-in-law, Christopher Pruett and two brothers-in-law, George Russell and Clyde Hardin.

Reverend Robert J. Campbell served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy on December 15, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri during the Korean Conflict. During his enlistment he helped build Subic Bay Naval Air Station in the Philippines, with the Sea Bee MCB39 Division, served as a Petty Officer Second Class, and received the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal (1st Award). He was Honorably Discharged on December 10, 1956.

Reverend Robert J. Campbell founded, Power of Pentecost Ministries Inc., founded and pastored Springtown Holiness Church, founded and pastored Smith Road Chapel, founded and administrated three Christian schools and also pastored various Pentecostal Churches of God. Reverend Robert J. Campbell also had two radio ministries, a bus ministry, nursing home ministry, prison ministry, hospital ministry and preached at countless revivals throughout the U.S. He also enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator.

Special recognition goes to Ann Campbell, Dr. Amin and his medical staff at Columbia, Missouri, for the loving and dedicated care giving to Reverend Campbell.

Visitation was held Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, September 17, 2007 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Monday, September 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Steven Campbell, Elder Leonard Compton and Brother Ken Blackwell officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Mike Campbell, Richard Campbell, John Pruett, Chris Campbell, Matt Pruett, Jarvis Medlock and honorary pallbearers, Barry Osborn and Emanuel Wilkinson.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri where Reverend Robert J. Campbell received Full Military Honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
