Charles Pratt

   Charles Pratt, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and member of the community departed this life on January 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

    Born on April 19, 1931, in Old Mines, Missouri, Charles was a proud son of Herbert Pratt and Lucille (Politte) Pratt. From an early age, he exhibited a strong sense of duty and commitment to his family and country. Charles served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, bravely defending the ideals he held dear.

   Charles was a man of many passions and interests. He found solace in cutting grass and tending to his beloved tractor, finding joy in taking care of his property. Traveling was another passion that enriched his life. Exploring new places allowed him to appreciate the beauty of the world around us.

   However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Charles was a deeply family-oriented person who treasured every moment he shared with his loved ones. Whether it was engaging in heartfelt conversations or creating lasting memories together, he always put his family above all else. Charles actively participated in numerous organizations throughout his life. As a proud member of the Washington County Knights of Columbus and St. Joachim Catholic Church, he embodied the spirit of service and faith. Additionally, his love for baseball led him to be an avid player during his younger years. Amongst all his accomplishments, Charles held particular pride in two significant aspects of his life: his military service and being a father and grandfather. His dedication to serving his country exemplified bravery and selflessness. As a devoted father and grandfather, he showered boundless love upon each member of his family.

   Charles leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who survive him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille (Politte) Pratt; father, Herbert Pratt; wife Anna (Robart) Pratt; son, Stephen Pratt; sisters, Rose Morris, Bernadette Wall, Doris Burr, Nancy Eaton, Margaret Miller, Elaine Baldridge, Jane Pratt; and brother John Pratt.

   In his memory, Charles is survived by two loving daughters: Deborah Miller and her husband Jerry of Cadet, MO, and Jennifer Pratt of Cadet, MO. additionally, he is survived by one son, Phillip Pratt and his wife Debra Anne. His sister Carolyn Bougas of Desoto, MO and brother Sylvester "Pill" Pratt and his wife Verna of Crystal City, MO also mourn his loss.

   Charles leaves behind a treasured legacy through his grandchildren: Karrie (Richard) Boyer), Jay Miller, Nathan Miller, Eli Reed, Gavin Reed, and Raymond Pratt. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jared Boyer, Jewel Boyer, Anna Boyer, Logan Miller, and Leah Miller.

   As we say goodbye to Charles with heavy hearts but immense gratitude, let us hold onto the memories and lessons he left behind. His legacy of love, dedication, and devotion will forever be an inspiration to us all.
