Mary Eugenia Chazelle
Mary Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, October 11, 1909 in Cruise, Missouri a daughter of the late, Mary “Mamie” (Catlett) Recar and Robert James Recar. Mary departed this life on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home in Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-eight years, five months and twenty days.
Mary was united in marriage to Annas Claude Chazelle and this union was blessed with eleven children.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Margaret Tingler and husband, Garold of Kansas City, Missouri, Patricia Johnson and husband, Jim of Waterford, Wisconsin, Jynelle Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri; six sons, Annas “Junior” Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri, Robert Chazelle and wife, Valerie of Potosi, Missouri, Charles A. Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri, Ronald Chazelle and wife, Sandy of St. Louis, Missouri, Wayne Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri, Michael Chazelle and wife, Terri of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Helen Jackson of DeSoto, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marvel Chazelle of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Annas Claude Chazelle, one son, Leroy Chazelle, one daughter, Rose Marie Pinson and her husband, Oscar Pinson, daughter-in-law, Betty Chazelle, three sisters, Sister Mary Alda, Rachel Recar, Iola Daugherty, four brothers, Benard Recar, Michael Recar, Lawrence Recar, Robert Recar.
Mary loved her faith in God and prayed the Rosary daily, she enjoyed visits from priests and was a very faithful parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri. She enjoyed taking care of and riding her horses. Mary loved her family and was always concerned about others before herself. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and cooking with her favorite being, chicken and dumplings and reading, especially the Independent Journal. Mary’s love and sense of humor brought countless memories of joy to all. Her heart was without limit. She was a dedicated Christian who committed acts of kindness without seeking recognition. Her heart and spirit will live on in all who have been touched by her and were privileged to experience her deep love.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM and Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich officiating.
Honoring Mary by serving as pallbearers were: Donald Chazelle, Allen Chazelle, Jeff Johnson, Jim Chazelle, Jeff Chazelle and Mike Chazelle.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
