BERNARD COLEMAN
BERNARD PAUL COLEMAN OF OLD MINES, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT BELLEFOUNTAINE, MISSOURI ON MARCH 12, 1913. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE JOHN REGIS COLEMAN AND GERTRUDE MARY (PAUL) COLEMAN-STEBRITZ. BERNARD DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE JEFFERSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN FESTUS, MISSOURI ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY NINE YEARS, FIVE MONTHS AND TWENTY TWO DAYS.
BERNARD WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO LEIAH THERESA BEQUETTE ON NOVEMBER 17, 1937 IN OLD MINES, MISSOURI AND TO THIS UNION TEN CHILDREN WERE BORN. LEIAH PRECEDED HER HUSBAND IN DEATH ON JANUARY 26, 1997.
HE IS SURVIVED BY FOUR DAUGHTERS; RITA ANN PRESTON AND HUSBAND W.L. "JACK" OF SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI, MARY ETTA COLEMAN-BOYER OF CADET, MISSOURI, ELIZABETH CAROL JOHNSTON AND HUSBAND JAMES OF CADET, MISSOURI AND STEPHANIE C. COLEMAN AND HUSBAND EDWARD OF CADET, MISSOURI, FOUR SONS; WILLIAM "BILL" COLEMAN AND WIFE CAROL OF IMPERIAL, MISSOURI, JOHN "JACK" COLEMAN AND WIFE JUDY OF CADET, MISSOURI, RAYMOND JAMES COLEMAN AND WIFE BARBARA OF CADET, MISSOURI, FRANCIS COLEMAN AND WIFE LIZ OF ARVADA, COLORADO, FOUR SISTERS; BETTY ANN SNYDER AND HUSBAND JACK OF FLORENCE, ARIZONA, SISTER MARIE THERESA COLEMAN OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, CECELIA G. HEIM OF FLORISSANT, MISSOURI AND JOAN REGINA ROLLINS AND CHARLES "CHUCK" OF BANCROFT, IOWA, TWO BROTHERS; JOSEPH GLENNON COLEMAN AND WIFE VICTORIA OF FLORISSANT, MISSOURI, ALFRED E. COLEMAN AND WIFE ROSALIE OF ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI AND ONE STEP BROTHER, PAUL GERALD "JED" STEBRITZ OF ARMSTRONG, IOWA. TWENTY SIX GRANDCHILDREN, FIFTEEN GREAT GRAND CHILDREN, THREE SISTERS-IN-LAW; RITA LOWER OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, HELEN BEQUETTE OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, AGATHA BEQUETTE OF CADET, MISSOURI AND MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
BERNARD WAS A HARD WORKING MAN WHO IN HIS EARLY YEARS WORKED FOR H & P MINING AND THEN LATER FOR POLITTE BROTHERS MINING COMPANY. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE UNION OF OPERATING ENGINEERS LOCAL 513 HAVING WORKED TWELVE YEARS FOR BUSSEN ROCK QUARRY AS FOREMAN OF THE PLANT.
BERNARD WAS A MEMBER OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND A 4TH DEGREE MEMBER OF THE CARDINAL GLENNON ASSEMBLY AND A LIFE TIME MEMBER OF THE ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH, HELPING BUILD THE ST. JOACHIM SCHOOL. HE SERVED ON PARISH PROGRAMS INCLUDING THE PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE. HE WAS AN AVID HUNTER AND ENJOYED PLAYING CARD GAMES SUCH AS EUCHRE AND PINOCHLE. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY HIS LARGE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS, FOR HIS QUICK WHIT AND WONDERFUL OUTLOOK ON LIFE.
VISITATION WAS HELD 3:00 PM TO 9:00 PM THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2002 AND 8:30 AM TO 10:45 AM ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2002 AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED 11:00 AM ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2002 AT THE ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE ST. JOACHIM CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI,
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE: PAUL COLEMAN, RANDY BOYER, BRIAN JOHNSTON, SCOTT PRESTON, STEVEN COLEMAN, BRADLEY COLEMAN, JEFF BOYER AND KENNETH COLEMAN.
