Hilda Aileen Coleman was born on January 22, 1917 in Frankclay, Missouri and departed this life on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Center, Potosi, Missouri with the consolation of having received the Sacraments of Eucharist and the Sacrament of the Sick from her parish priest at the age of ninety-four years, eight months and nineteen days.
Hilda was united in marriage to Earl Vincent Coleman on October 11, 1936 at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri.
Hilda is survived by one daughter, Charlene Coleman and husband, Carley of Cabot, Arkansas; four sons, John Joe Coleman and wife, Alice of Potosi, Missouri, Robert “Bob” Coleman and wife, Janet of Potosi, Missouri, Charles “Butch” Coleman and wife, Sharon of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, William “Bill” Coleman and wife, Elizabeth of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; also surviving are other relatives and friends. Hilda was preceded in death by her mother, Lottie (Turner) Mallow, husband, Earl Vincent Coleman, two sisters, Ruth Christopher, Rosalie Bush and one grandson, Darrell Coleman.
Hilda enjoyed attending the Sayers Senior Center dances and going on trips with the Center, she always enjoyed her daily visit and helping out anyway she could. Hilda was a parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church and was a longtime cook at the Potosi High School and for the Potosi Lions Club with her very good friend, Fran Cordia. She took great pride in taking care of and keeping track of her many family heirlooms. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and always looked forward to baking and cooking for family gatherings. Hilda will be forever remembered for the memories and knowledge she shared with her loved ones.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, October 14, 2011 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was held Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Joe Welschmeyer officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Honoring Hilda by serving as pallbearers were: Ben Bishop, Josh Bishop, Matt Helms, Rodney Coleman, Darren Coleman and Ryan Bone.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
