James Willis Coleman

James Coleman of Viburnum, Missouri was born on Sunday, December 27, 1931 in Cadet, Missouri to the late, Rosie Belle (Hill) Coleman and James Willis Coleman. James departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-eight years, one month and twelve days.

James was united in marriage to Alice Sue Lucas on May 25, 1957 in Old Mines, Missouri and were blessed with nine children.

James or “Nean” as he was know by his family and friends is survived by, his loving wife, Alice Coleman of Viburnum, Missouri; seven daughters, Debra Kostro of Cadet, Missouri, Connie Barley and husband, Alan of Cadet, Missouri, Tina Agers and husband, Mike of Blackwell, Missouri, Shelly Dierks and fiancé, Jeff Montgomery of St. Clair, Missouri, Carol Peppers and fiancé, Dave Wilkins of Salem, Missouri, Christina Coleman and fiancé, Jackie Thompson of Viburnum, Missouri, Marlene Benoist and husband, Dave of Union, Missouri; one son, Charles Coleman and wife, Mary of Cadet, Missouri; one sister, Myrtle Missey of Old Mines, Missouri; one brother, Russell Coleman and wife, Rachel of Cadet, Missouri; thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; very good friend, Jim Cwiklowski of St. Peters, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one son, James Leslie Coleman, three sisters, Ethel Davis, Lillian Luther, Edna DeClue, one brother, Paul Coleman, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews, Tony Coleman, Perry Pettus, Dennis Pettus, Barry Pettus and two sons-in-law, Martin Dierks and Steve Kostro.

James enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, his favorite singers were Hank Williams and George Jones. He received an award winning first prize for pitching horseshoes and always looked forward to playing euchre. “Nean’s” favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and enjoying a nice cold Busch beer; also snacking on peanuts and peanut butter cups watching baseball on TV. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, who will remember “Nean” for his caring ways.

Visitation was held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Father Ted Pieper officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Kenny Moss, Nick Politte, Ryan Politte, Jeremy Politte, Charles Coleman, Brent Lay, Shawn DeClue, Kaleb DeClue, Daniel Dierks and Dwayne Dierks.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
