Joe “Rev” Coleman of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, December 31, 1949 in Cadet, Missouri to the late, Mandy (Emily) Coleman and Willy Coleman. Joe departed this life on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of fifty-eight years, three months and twenty-seven days.
Joe was united in marriage to Rita Aubuchon on March 19, 1976 in Hillsboro, Missouri.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Rita Coleman of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Yvonne Renee Wilson-Beard and husband Ricky and two grandsons, Ryan Beard and Riley Beard of Peoria, Illinois; two sisters, Lily Coleman and husband, Bud of Cadet, Missouri, Geraldine Carol Rawe and husband, Harold of Cadet, Missouri; two brothers, Jack Coleman of Cadet, Missouri, Bob Coleman and wife, Barb of Dexter, Missouri; mother-in-law, Margie Aubuchon of Mineral Point, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one daughter, JoLyn Coleman, father-in-law, James “Speck” Aubuchon and sister-in-law, Sally Coleman.
Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 23, 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri serving during the Vietnam era receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 20, 1973 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Joe or as many of his family and friends called him “Rev” enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and going hunting. He was a member of the Amvets Post 48 DeSoto, Missouri and also enjoyed driving his dump truck. Joe loved his grandsons and his two favorite dogs Winston, now deceased and Beauregard and the time and fun they had together. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Don Strauser officiating.
Honoring Joe by serving as pallbearers were: Sean Martin, Eric Aubuchon, Brandon Smith, Alex Coleman, Rick Beard, Riley Beard and Ryan Beard.
Final Prayers and burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Where Joe received full military honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
