Martin Anthony Coleman

Martin Coleman of Potosi, Missouri was born on Friday, January 21, 1927 in Potosi, Missouri a son of the late, Mary Elizabeth (Cordia) Coleman and John Joseph Coleman. Martin departed this life on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Fountainbleau Nursing Center, Festus, Missouri having reached the age of eighty years, eight months and twenty-eight days.

Martin was united in marriage to Arnita Frances Politte on January 18, 1948 in Mineral Point, Missouri and this union was blessed with four children.

Martin is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo Kley and husband, Alvin of Potosi, Missouri, Brenda Coleman and Kenneth Stringer of Potosi, Missouri; two sons, Richard Coleman and Lita Mansfield of Arnold, Missouri, Bruce Coleman and wife, Cindy of Columbia, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Martin was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Yarbrough and Louise Boyer, five brothers, Charles Coleman, Earl Coleman, Francis Coleman, Leo Coleman and Alphonso Coleman.

Martin served his country by enlisting into the United States Marine Corps on December 11, 1944 during World War II. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1947.

Martin was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri, Masonic Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the V.F.W. Post #6996. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch visiting, taking naps and waving at people passing by. Martin also enjoyed going to many different restaurants for meals anytime of the day. He loved woodworking, building table and chair sets for his many friends, children and grandchildren. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren gave Martin great joy. He will be very deeply missed by the many lives he has touched.

A Memorial Visitation was held Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM with a Masonic Service was presented by the Potosi Masonic Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M. at 8:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11:30 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
