Fannie May Compton
Fannie May Compton of Potosi, Missouri was born Thursday, November 7, 1912 in Shirley, Missouri a daughter of the late Mary (Gibson) Yount and Westley Yount. Fannie departed this life at her home on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the age of Ninety-two Years, One Month and Four Days.
Fannie was a long time member of the Potosi First Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri where she enjoyed the fellowship of her many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Fannie was united in marriage to the Late Willie Compton on December 16, 1928 in Mineral Point, Missouri.
Fannie is survived by one son Gus Compton and wife Joyce of Bridgeton, Missouri; one daughter, Cleo Short of Potosi, Missouri; Six grandchildren; Fourteen great grandchildren; Eleven great great grandchildren and by many other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Fannie May was preceded in death by two sons, Leo Compton and Glen Compton.
Fannie had a special love for her dog, Pepe, who always had her attention. Fannie loved Quilting and all types of sewing. She would crochet and do handiwork for all the family members. She was always working on some type of craft item.
Fannie had a great love for people and always had an open door to help anyone that needed a place to stay until they could get a job and on their feet. Fannie loved to visit and could recall the smallest details to share.
Fannie was a remarkable person, not only for Her longevity, But for the intensity and clarity of focus with which she lived her life. She will always be remembered for the love she shared.
Visitation was held Monday, December 13, 2004 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, December 14, 2004 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jeff Richards and Elder Leonard Compton. Musical selections were What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross by Sherree Hutcherson.
Final Prayers and Burial was at the White Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery, Shirley, Missouri.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
