Carl Edward Crites
Carl Edward Crites of Potosi, Missouri was born on February 24, 1936 in Daisy, Missouri. A son of the late, Flossie Matilta (Moore) Crites and Lloyd Virgil Crites. Carl departed this life on July 1, 2007 at his residence having reached the age of seventy-one years, four months and seven days.
Carl was united in marriage to Geraldine “Gerry” Wirth on November 22, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Gerry Crites of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Glenda Lee Wright and husband Terry of Columbia, Illinois; one son, Timothy Lynn Crites of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Bryan of Dittmer, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brandy Lynn, Matthew Edward, Tanya Lee and Natasha Fay and former daughter-in-law, Kristine Lynn Crites of Dittmer, Missouri. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Edward Crites, one sister, Velma “Peggy” Crites and one granddaughter, Crystal Marie Evans.
Carl loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going fishing, deer hunting and traveling to Texas for many winters. Carl also enjoyed collecting antiques and going to auctions. Working in his yard and keeping it nice and neat gave Carl great joy. Carl was very active with the Potosi Southern Gospel Church, where he worked the bus ministry, sang in the choir and was also Deacon. Playing guitar and singing with various groups including the Singing Believers was what Carl loved to do. He was a member of the Potosi Lions Club, where he appreciated the fellowship of other members and enjoyed helping during the county fair, working in the food stands.
Carl’s love for his fellow man and his hope in finding a cure for cancer, was the driving force to have his body donated to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. His dedication to God and friendly manner to everyone he met, will long be remembered by all his family and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor John Edwards officiating.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
