VELMA DAVIS
VELMA LAURA DAVIS OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT BELGRADE, MISSOURI ON MARCH 21, 1910. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE LYTLE AND DELLA (VINEYARD) JARVIS. VELMA DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON MARCH 26, 2003 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF NINETY- THREE YEARS AND FIVE DAYS.
VELMA WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO WILLIAM "BILL" DAVIS ON SEPTEMBER 15, 1928 IN POTOSI, MISSOURI AND TO THIS UNION FIVE CHILDREN WERE BORN.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY DAUGHTERS, ALBERTA FRALEY AND HUSBAND HAROLD OF MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, KATHLEEN BARTON AND HUSBAND JOE OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI, PAUL DEAN DAVIS AND WIFE SUE OF FARMINGTON, MISSOURI AND DONALD DAVIS AND WIFE DOROTHY OF PEVELY, MISSOURI, TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN, TWENTY- NINE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, FOURTEEN GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND ONE GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILD, SISTERS, LUCY HENSON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI AND MARY FERRELL OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI, BROTHER, GLEN JARVIS AND WIFE AUDREY OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND HER HOSPICE NURSE, TRICIA BREAKFIELD OF DESLOGE, MISSOURI. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND HUSBAND SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY SON, LEON DAVIS, GRANDCHILDREN, JEFFERY DAVIS AND RICHARD FRALEY, SISTER, ETHEL HENSON AND BROTHERS, OLIN "BUCK" JARVIS AND LUTHER JARVIS.
VELMA WAS A LONGTIME MEMBER OF THE IRONDALE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH AND ONE OF HER FAVORITE PASTIMES WAS READING HER BIBLE FROM COVER TO COVER SEVERAL TIMES. VELMA WAS A LOVING WOMAN WHO ALWAYS HAD SOMETHING GREAT TO SAY ABOUT EVERY PERSON SHE MET. SHE ENJOYED SEWING, CROCHETING, QUILTING AND WAS A WONDERFUL COOK. VELMA WILL BE LOVINGLY REMEMBERED BY FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD 5:00 PM TO 9:00 PM ON THURSDAY, MARCH 27, 2003 AND 9:00 AM TO 10:45 AM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 28, 2003 AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, IRONDALE.
A FUNERAL SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED AT 11:00 AM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 28, 2003 AT THE IRONDALE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN IRONDALE, MISSOURI WITH REV. BRUCE TORRENCE OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE ADAMS CEMETERY IN FRANKCLAY, MISSOURI UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, IRONDALE.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, MIKE DAVIS, TERRY DAVIS, STEVE DAVIS, MARK DAVIS, SCOTT DAVIS AND LINDELL BARTON.
