Carolyn Lorraine DeClue of Irondale, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri at the age of Seventy-two years, four months and twenty-three days. Carolyn was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, December 8, 1939, a daughter of the late Sylvia (Charlton) Kearns and Noble Kearns.
Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles B. DeClue on December 10, 1955 in Waterloo, Illinois. They were blessed to have over fifty-six years of marriage and four children, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles B. DeClue of Irondale; daughter, Diane R. Starnes and her life partner, Larry Smith of Leadwood; sons, Daniel J. DeClue and wife Kathy of Labadie, Walter L. DeClue of Redford, Michigan; grandchildren, Ryan C. DeClue, Brooke D. Pedrotti and life partner Neil Yochim, Charles E. Workes II and wife Danielle, Carolyn R. Hardin, Clayton M. DeClue, Dylan M. DeClue, Benjamin J. Tonak and wife Annie; great grandchildren, Dakota J. DeClue, Austin M. Pedrotti, Cheyene F. Pedrotti, Ethan J. Workes, Dominick C. Workes, Julia R. Workes, Robin Carroll, Phoenix R. Hardin, Aiden J. Tonak, Emerson O. Tonak, Adalia Tonak; life long best friend Barbara Tuchshmidt; nieces, nephews other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn L. DeClue and sisters, Gloria Crawford, Joyce Frechman, Mary Ann Joyce.
Carolyn was a long time member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church Parish, Old Mines. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an Accountant for the St. Louis County Government.
Carolyn had a great love for her grandchildren, each of them held a very dear and special place in her heart. They could bring a smile to her face and a sparkle to her eye, each and every time she saw them. She enjoyed spending time working in the flower garden and going to yard sales. Carolyn was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals Fan and loved watching as many games as she could.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
Rev. Father Ted Pieper celebrated a Funeral Mass Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri at 1:00 PM. The St. Joachim Choir provided Music for the Mass.
Final Prayers, Blessings and Burial were at the St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.
Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
