Fabian DeClue
Fabian “Ace” DeClue of Potosi, Missouri was born Tuesday, July 16, 1935 in Potosi, Missouri a son of the late Theresa (Suiter) DeClue-Harrelson and Fabian DeClue. Ace departed this life on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of Seventy-one years, Seven months and Twenty-seven days.
Father Flynn united Ace in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Adams on November 27, 1954 at the St. Stephens Catholic Church, Richwoods, Missouri. They were blessed to have one son born to the union.
Ace is survived by his loving and devoted wife Geraldine DeClue of Potosi, Missouri, one son Jeffrey DeClue of Potosi, Missouri, one grandson and the sparkle of Ace’s eye, Preston Fabian Paul DeClue of Potosi, Missouri, two sisters, Iris Koch of DeSoto, Missouri, Margie Carmen and husband Jay of Paragould, Arkansas, two brothers, Danny DeClue and wife Deloris of Potosi, Missouri, Jim Harrelson and wife Erma of Potosi, Missouri and by many other relatives and dear and special friends. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Edmond DeClue and Glennon DeClue, also preceded him in death.
Ace was a long time parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri. He had served as an usher for many years. He was very active in its many activities and functions.
Ace had worked for the Independent Journal for Forty-nine years and continued working around them after his retirement. He became known for his personal designs and attention to many ads. He would hand deliver many papers in the area. He had also worked in real estate sales for many years and received the top-listing Agent for April 1988 with Century 21. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Old Mines, Missouri. Ace and his wife owned and operated Ace’s Yard Ornaments on their property for some Twenty years.
Ace was a cherished and loved husband, father, grandfather and brother. His words were kind, his smile large and his home always open. He loved to spend time with his grandson. Preston knew where grandpa was at all times and knew how to make grandpa smile. Ace had a great love for the community and its people and loved to spend time visiting. One of his greatest past times was playing horseshoes; anywhere there was a tournament or just a game on Sunday afternoon at the house. Ace DeClue, a loving man who believed in the cardinal rule, Treat others as you wish them to treat you.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 18, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, March 19, 2007 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 19, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich celebrating.
Final Prayers, Blessings and Burial were held at 11:15 AM on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Following all services, the family and friends returned to the St. James Parish Hall where a lunch was provided by the parish.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
