Rachel DeClue of Old Mines, Missouri was born Friday, February 13, 1920 in Kingston, Missouri a daughter of the late Fannie (Pratt) Villmer and Frank Villmer. Rachel was Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the age of Eighty-four years and Eleven months.
Rachel was united in Holy Matrimony to Joseph David DeClue. They were blessed to have four children born to the union.
Rachel was a longtime member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri.
Rachel is survived by two daughters, Helen Wickerham of Potosi, Missouri, Patsy Westhoff and husband Norman of DeSoto, Missouri; one son, Bernard DeClue and wife Diann of DeSoto, Missouri; Eleven grandchildren; Sixteen great grandchildren; Three great great grandchildren; niece Bernice Hertweck who Rachel raised as her own and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many dear and special friends. In addition to her parents, Rachel was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph; one daughter, Mary Theresa DeClue; six sisters, Ethel Coleman, Justine Sampson, Bess Recar, Rose Bequette, Genevieve Recar, Agnes Boyer; four brothers Al Villmer, Elmer Villmer, Earnest Villmer, Burnham Villmer.
Rachel enjoyed her time spent working with the Rural Parish Workers Christ the King. She enjoyed visiting at the Sayers Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed quilting and sharing her quilts with her family. Rachel loved to cook, especially chicken and dumplings. She would share a recipe with all but never let you know the measurements, it would be a pinch of this and a handful of this. Rachel loved to visit and made sure she made her daily telephone contacts.
Above all, Rachel was there for her family and many friends, she never hesitated to help anyone in need. She had a loving heart, open arms and listening ears for all.
Visitation was held Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, January 17, 2005 from 8:30 AM to 9:40 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Prayer services were held Sunday, January 16, 2005 at 7:00 PM with Deacon Ed Boyer and the Rural Parish Workers Christ the King.
Funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Ted Pieper and Deacon Ed Boyer at 10:00 AM Monday, January 17, 2005 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. Music was provided by the St. Joachim Catholic Church Choir.
Final Prayers and Burial was in the St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
