Charlene DeGonia
Charlene Marie DeGonia of Potosi, Missouri was born on Friday, January 12, 1934 in Missouri to the late, Evelyn Mary (Politte) Yarbrough and Lytle Yarbrough. Charlene departed this life on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-six years, two months and twenty days.
Charlene was united in marriage Gene H. DeGonia on September 11, 1951 in Washington County, Missouri.
Charlene is survived by three daughters, Charlene “Sally” Littrell and husband, Kenny of Blackwell, Missouri, Karen Benson and husband, John of Potosi, Missouri, Pamela Holland and husband, Tommy of Potosi, Missouri; two sons, Raymond Gene “Buck” DeGonia and wife, Loretta of Potosi, Missouri, Lynn DeGonia and wife, Sandy of Mineral Point, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one sister, Ann Brinley and husband, Earl of Cuba, Missouri, adopted family, Glen Laramore of Mineral Point, Missouri and Joy and Jackie Rice of DeSoto, Missouri. In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Gene H. DeGonia one son, Clarence Joseph “Pete” DeGonia, three sisters; Mary, Virginia and Elizabeth and four brothers; James, Clarence, Harold and Lytle.
Charlene attended the Potosi Southern Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri. She retired from Brown Shoe Company after twenty plus years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, cards with her favorite game being, Texas Holdem, watching game shows on television and playing the lottery. Charlene loved her family and spending time with them, she will be forever remembered for the love she shared.
Visitation was held Friday, April 2, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Don Burke officiating.
Honoring Charlene by serving as pallbearers were: Lynn DeGonia, John Benson, Joseph DeGonia, Glen Laramore, Matthew DeGonia, Marcus Ervin, Terry Pickett and Nick Schrum.
Final Prayers and Burial took place at the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
