Robert Elsey Dickey
Robert Elsey Dickey, 76, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on November 10, 1932 in Potosi, Missouri to Lacy M. Dickey and Elnora E. Elsey Dickey.
Robert graduated from Potosi High School in Potosi, Missouri in 1950. He received a degree in Accounting/Business Administration from Sanford-Brown Business College in St. Louis. He believed that education was very important and made provisions to assure that all four daughters received a college degree. He played basketball and baseball, and also tried out for two pro-baseball teams. He is a retired accountant, car salesman, and motel manager. He moved to Bella Vista in 2001 from Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was a active member of the Bella Vista Baptist Church, and previously served at Cullendale Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas as church treasurer and a deacon. He was a former member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church and served as Deacon for many years. He loved spending time with family, playing golf, traveling, and all kinds of sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Linda Beal.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Dickey of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three daughters, Rhonda Caplena and husband Derin of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Roberta Bever of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Julie Madison and husband, Justin of Santa Barbara, California; one brother Richard Dickey and wife, Catherine of Potosi, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley De Clue of St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara Faye Hamilton of St. Louis, Missouri; one son-in-law, Ken Beal of Huntington Beach, California; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Bella Vista Baptist Church, 50 East Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas with Reverend Mike McCauley officiating. Visitation was at Bella Vista Baptist Church on Monday at the Church from 9:00 AM until service time. A Second Service was held Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Dean Ferguson, Aaron Caplena, Brandon Caplena, Tim Caplena, Kurt Dickey and Kent Dickey. Visitation was held Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
