John L. Dowden
John L. Dowden of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, November 24, 1953 in Saint Louis, Missouri, a son of Levi Lemons and the late Vernie Mae (Dowden) Lemons. John departed this life on Thursday, August 17, 2006 having reached the age of fifty-two years, eight months and twenty-four days.
John was united in marriage to Carolyn Brown on December 5, 2002 in Potosi, Missouri.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Dowden of Potosi, Missouri; father, Levi Lemons of Cadet, Missouri; two daughters, Therica Johness Dowden of Saint Louis, Missouri, Felicia Danielle Dowden of Saint Louis, Missouri; step-daughter, Doris Johnson of Saint Louis, Missouri; two step-sons, Christopher Lee Johnson of Saint Louis, Missouri, Burt Andrew Rodgers and wife Munirah Mae of Saint Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Pamela Robinson of Cadet, Missouri, Patrice Cunningham of Cadet, Missouri, Rosalind Lemons of Summersville, Missouri, Pansy Lemons of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, Terence Lemons of Potosi, Missouri, Kevin Lemons of Cadet, Missouri; ten grandchildren, child’s mother, Mary Johnson, also surviving are other relatives and many friends. John was preceded in death by mother, Vernnie Mae Lemons, four brothers, Cedrick Lemons, Robert Lemons, Levi Valdimer Lemons, Russell Melvin Lemons, and child’s mother, Phyllis Harvey.
John had accepted the Lord as his Savior, and attended the Roads of Sharon Apostilik Church in which he enjoyed. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved taking walks, going dancing and listening to gospel music. John was a very happy man that will be very deeply missed by the many lives he has touched.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Alvin O’Neal officiating.
Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
