Alma Jean Estell Drennen of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on Tuesday, November 6, 1945 in Mineral Point, Missouri and departed this life at her daughter, Crystal’s house surrounded by her loving family having reached the age of sixty-five years, ten months and six days.
Alma was united in marriage to Marvin Drennen, Sr. on May 3, 1964 in Mineral Point, Missouri and this union was blessed with thirteen children.
Alma is survived by six sons, Robert Drennen and wife, Jane of Cadet, Missouri, Virgil Drennen and wife, Jeannie of Cadet, Missouri, Marty Drennen and wife, Kathy of Mineral Point, Missouri, Marvin Drennen, Jr. and wife, Angie of Cadet, Missouri, Ralph Drennen and wife, Angie of Bourbon, Missouri, Ronnie Drennen of Bowling Green, Missouri; five daughters, Cynthia Miller and husband, Larry of Mineral Point, Missouri, Crystal Owens and husband, Kenny of Mineral Point, Missouri, Heather DeClue and husband, William of Missouri, Jeannie Lohr and husband, Mike of St. Louis, Missouri, Lillie Drennen of Illinois; mother, Sarah Mae (Summers) Skaggs of Springtown, Missouri; four sisters, Loretta DeClue and husband, Dale of Cadet, Missouri, Nancy Hastings and husband, Roger “Jitter” of Cadet, Missouri, Iva Kemper of Springtown, Missouri, Flossie Cain and husband, Daniel of Springtown, Missouri; two brothers, Sammy Skaggs and wife, Rosemary of Mineral Point, Missouri, Donald Skaggs of Springtown, Missouri; twenty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Drennen, Sr., father, William Taff Skaggs, daughter, June Votoaw, son, Jerry Drennen, sister, Mary Louise Skaggs, two grandchildren, Marty Blaine Drennen, Jr. and Kayla Elizabeth Drennen, three great grandchildren, Hayden Witcher, Kalliey Adams and Duke Adams.
Alma worked at the YMCA Trout Lodge of Potosi, Missouri as a cook for seventeen years, retiring January 1, 2009. She enjoyed going fishing, doing puzzle books and canning foods. Alma loved spending time with her family, especially at holiday gatherings and watching her grandsons in rodeos. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, who will greatly miss Alma and the love she shared.
Visitation was held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Timothy Tipton officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Diggins Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Robert Drennen, Virgil Drennen, Marty Drennen, Marvin Drennen, Ralph Drennen, Bud Rea, Kenny Owens, Anthony DeClue, Kevin Boyer, Roger “Jitter” Hastings, Michael Duncan and Donald Skaggs.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664.
