Myrtle Marie Duncan
Myrtle Duncan of Potosi, Missouri was born on Friday, March 28, 1924 in Ebo, Missouri a daughter of the late, Melissa Mae (Thurmond) Sloss and Percy B. Sloss. Myrtle departed this life on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Parkland Health Center, Farmington, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-six years, one month and twenty-three days.
Myrtle was united in marriage to Leslie “Les” Duncan on April 11, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri.
Myrtle is survived by one son, Kenneth Duncan and wife, Joni of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Owens and husband, Ira of Potosi, Missouri, Norma Jean Cooper of Berkley, Missouri; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Duncan of Festus, Missouri, special friend, Mary Ann Horton of Belgrade, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Les” Duncan, one son, Leslie “Sonny” Duncan, one sister, Ode Mae Shelton, four brothers, John Sloss, Alvin Sloss, Ed Sloss, Lynn Sloss and special friend, Ken Mills.
Myrtle enjoyed spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren. She and her husband were the co-owner’s of Duncan Jewelry Store for fifty plus years. Myrtle also enjoyed quilting, gardening and dancing. She was always volunteering and visiting at Sayers Senior Center. Myrtle loved playing and winning card games, watching Wheel of Fortune and Cardinals baseball on T.V.
Visitation was held Monday, May 24, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jerry Compton officiating. Honoring Myrtle by serving as pallbearers were: Mark Saxon, Cory Aders, Clark Jenkins, Adam Schultz, Rolin Duncan and Jeff Fryman.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
