Albert “Butsie” Dunlap

Albert “Butsie” Dunlap of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, April 28, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2007 at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-two years, seven months and ten days.

“Butsie” was united in marriage to Loretta Fay Smith on June 11, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri.

“Butsie” is survived by two sons, John “Jack” Dunlap and wife, Debbie of Potosi, Missouri, James “Jim” Dunlap of Potosi, Missouri; two grandchildren, Toby of Potosi, Missouri, Erin of St. Louis, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Reighann Fay Politte of O’Fallon, Illinois; also surviving are aunts, uncles, and many other relatives and friends. “Butsie” was preceded in death by his parents, Hallie (Dunlap) Horsey and Albert Horsey when he was very young and his grandparents who raised him, Ninnie and Lilburn Dunlap, his wife, Fay Dunlap, one daughter, Denise Dunlap, one grandson, Jason Tonneas, one aunt, Dorothy Bauman and three uncles, Kenneth Dunlap, Lloyd Dunlap and Floyd Dunlap.

“Butsie” served in the United States Navy enlisting on July 15, 1943 and receiving an honorable discharge on April 15, 1946. While serving in the Navy he received the American Area Victory Medal.

“Butsie” retired from AP&L in 1981 after thirty-two years of service. He was a lifetime charter member of the BPOE # 2218 and was also a member of the IBEW Local # 1. “Butsie” enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. “Butsie” will be very deeply missed by his loved ones.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

An Elk Memorial Service was held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 7:30 PM at the Moore Funeral Home by the Potosi Elks Lodge # 2218.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Compton James Ramsawh officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Mark Saunders, Kevin Scott, Stevie Walton, Gary Boyer, Larry Coleman and Russell Jaycox.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
