July 26, 1961 — July 27, 2024

Julia Elaine Hawkins, lovingly known as “Sadie”, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family July 27, 2024 leaving a void in the hearts of many.

Sadie was born July 26, 1961 in Farmington, Missouri, a daughter to Julie (Bohan) Mapes and the late George Edwin Mapes. Sadie married Rodney Hawkins in 1986 and together they built a life full of love and adventure.

Those left to cherish her loving memory include her mother, Julie Mapes; husband, Rodney Hawkins; daughters, Sierra Nettles and husband Chris, Jessica Veach and husband Jordan; sister, Beverly Gillam; grandchildren, Camron, Connor, Jax, Ayden, Jaxon; also surviving are many other relatives and special friends.

To Sadie, every day was a gift. She never met a stranger and loved working with people. She loved fun and music. She would call herself Joan Jetts number one fan, often following her on tours around the country. Sadie’s love of music extended many genres and she attended many concerts. She also enjoyed watching drag races, going to baseball games and watching the St. Louis, Battle Hawks play. Sadie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends. Although she has gone to her heavenly home, may we always remember her for her fun spirit and the loving nature she showed to all she loved.
